First-time entrant wows World Beer Cup judges
TORONTO , ON – Budweiser, the number one selling beer in the world, today announces Budweiser True Music, an exclusive online program that helps showcase up-and-coming bands as well as established artists while giving adult music fans an opportunity to download pre-paid music.
For a limited time, specially-marked cases of Budweiser's 28-bottle King Pack will contain a True Music booklet with a PIN number enabling fans to download three pre-paid tracks from a library play list on www.budweiser.ca . The site features music from Finger Eleven, The Trews and Barlow as well as a host of emerging artists from across the country, including independent rock bands Earrl and Mudmen.
Alan Cross, an expert on new music and host of a nationally syndicated radio show, author of four books and more than a dozen CD compilations on the topic says: “There are few gigs tougher than being a Canadian indie band. Thousands of groups across the country are willing to endure the late nights playing in front of rough crowds, the endless road trips and living on super-tight budgets just so their music can be heard--and in the hope that one day, they'll get their moment in the sun. This kind of passion forms the foundation of rock'n'roll in this country.”
Cross continued: “Programs like Budweiser's True Music recognize the challenges faced by Canadian indie bands and offer these groups an opportunity to get their music in front of potential fans from coast to coast. Budweiser True Music indie bands will be featured in the True Music radio advertising campaign and on Bud Radio. For the second year, Bud Radio will air across Canada with a full hour of radio programming devoted to “new music” that ranges in style from rock to hip hop and alternative.
Rich Swinamer, lead singer of Toronto 's independent rock band Earrl, has been touring extensively for 10 years, playing across Canada and in parts of the U.S. “Every bit of exposure helps when you are an independent artist. As an indie band, you want to get recognized and need to promote yourself; it can get very expensive and the money isn't always there to do it properly. The Budweiser True Music program provides a wide range of exposure that will hopefully help build our fan base, get us recognized by a label and make our dreams of becoming full time musicians a reality.”
