Is the long wait a good sign or a bad sign?

Post by Flea21212 »

It seems to be taking forever for this album to come out. And the lack of news or updates about anything to do with OLP doesn't make time pass any faster.

So what are you're thoughts on the long delay? Does it just mean that they are sifting through material trying to make this album as perfect as possible? Or does it mean they don't feel confident in what they already had (at least at some point in the recording process)? Or do you think it's just a series of other events?

And finally do you think the long break between albums will allinate some of the fans?

no really though, they don't believe in spending large amounts of time on songs, they said so themselves. Bob Rock only beleievs in a few takes. They waiting for a ideal commercial atmosphere to release it in, OLP have always done so

i think they just needed a break after two of them having kids and 5 albums in 7 years....just taking time off to get a second wind and spend time with the new family!
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

Exactly! Who can blame them for taking more extra time. Not many bands have put out music at a pace similar to OLP's.

Look at MB20.....3 cds and now they are offically taking a 2 year break! OLP didn't announce a 2 year break, so think if THAT was the case.

This isn't even a long break. OLP has spoiled us with lots of albums in a short period of time. Gravity came out only two years ago! Two years! No matter how simple and shittacular the songs are now, I'd like to see anyone on here tour one album, write a new album, record a new album, produce a new album, manufacture a new album and advertise a new album in less than two years. On top of that, there's the whole having lives thing.

I am not very happy with these constant delays. It is kind of telling me that once again they are going for album sales. They are looking for the best time to release the cd. I know that this isn't OLP's fault, but it still tells me that their album is probably a bit more like gravity than the other cds. I don't know. I've really started to not even care about this cd seeing as how i'll get new Matthew Good in a month or so and i'll probably be more pleased with that album than this one.

I imagine it's a mix of good time to release it commercially and wanting some time off. Anyway, at this point I'd imagine the album won't be affected much by delays, other than maybe song order and stuff like that.

Plus you can't blame OLP/Sony for wanting to release it at a good time for album releases... they may be doing this for the love of music, but now that the music is done, wanting a little money won't hurt it ;)
I just wanna get out,

I think one of the reasons for the wait(opinoin only) is because Bob Rock also help produce the Tea Party CD. I just read they were mixing it.

It isn't really a long wait. it is to some cause they kept saying the CD would be released, then isn't-so it upsets people.

if you look at the majority of bands you are lucky if you get a CD within 2 years of the last CD. OLP have released 3 studio and 1 live CD in 4 years. This year isn't even over yet and we may get another studio CD.

They also have toured every year since 1997. I don't know any other band off hand that does that.

I only hope that once this CD is released we still get more CD's from the band in the future.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

It's now being advertised in wal-mart that the new cd will be out in June.
So unless they're lying pieces of stinking awful the wait is almost over :D
