My Rant about the Junos
My Rant about the Junos
Does it piss anyone else off, that the host of the junos is someone who performs and is nominated for awards? doesnt this seem really cheap? Why not have a Funny canadian comedian like Mike Meyers host it. I also find it wierd how they announce pretty much every award the night before, even a good chunk of the bigger awards. Anyways just had to get that out.

What was with the "Canadian Rockstar" bits? That was un-funny.
reguardless...the three days grace/finger eleven/Billy talent/simple plan thing was good....except finger eleven should have played good times. One thing was too slow and stood out. I was just watching one of them stomp on the christmas lights making them go on and off.
And I'm glad Sam Roberts won some shit. He rocked. Though it was funny when he won for solo artist and his band came up....

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

didn't see 'em... it sucks living in America.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

how bout roberts' pit stains?

Anyways, my thoughts are that I think it is cool to have the musical celebrities host the show... it's just a different atmosphere. I like the idea of having them host. It'd be great to have Jer host the awards one year

And yes, the Canadian rockstar bits were just horrible.
I thought that finger 11 was the only good performance in that set, although he was somewhat off key. billy talent just sounded god awful. 3dd was alright, and simple plan just sucks. i thought it was stupid at the end when simple plan was trying to be funny by ruining the stage.. just awful. i'm excited to hear pilate play next year (they'll probably play since they'll be up for a ton of awards). all in all... the show was alright, nothing great... better than the grammys tho. the revolving stage was cool. the whole setup was pretty good. ben mulruney and tanya kim gotta go tho.
The sound system was horrible. Thats why everyone sounded so bad. I don't think they had the sound system that was capable of handling Billy Talent, mind you it was barely capable of handling Sarah Mcglauchlin.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

The Junos always are though. I don't know why they can't get their act together. I mean....last year with Shania was bad enough. She didn't know where the fucking mic was and she hosted.
I still don't get Nelly Furtados thing with the "spirit" signs...maybe its just cause the song is over played so much that I hate everything connected to it.

Members of CARAS get to vote. From the website:
About CARAS - Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences
Our main focus is the exploration and development of opportunities to showcase and promote Canadian artists and music. As an involved member of our industry, CARAS needs your participation to properly identify, reward, and promote the achievements of Canadian artists. Your Involvement is Key...
The Canadian music industry continues to be shaped and influenced by the degree of energy and enthusiasm invested by those who participate in it. The future looks brighter than ever for Canadian music; our star system more impressive than ever. CARAS relies on the active participation of industry professionals like you to uphold the fundamental Juno process; created specifically and solely to enhance our music industry through an annual, nationally televised awards show -- the Juno Awards.
It's cool because you don't have to be an artist or producer to vote. In order to vote for the Grammy Awards, you need to have at least six production credits. Then again, there's a lot less people in Canada.
