Do you find it annoy

Post by JCalhouN »

That OLP only usually has 11 songs on their cd's, with exception for Gravity (10)?

Well, actually, SM was an exception too, with only ten songs, if you want to be ridiculous, fifteen tracks. Either way, that's not eleven.

Is it just me or do people seem to go out of their way to complain about "Gravity" now?

Well, you don't have to go out of your way to complain about it.

But no one's complaining about it here...

Yes, it's so annoying. I wish they had just thrown another song in, just for the hell of it.

And btw, the states do not suck. Thanks.

I'm under the impression that if they felt they had strong enough material they would have put those songs on the album as well. When it comes to the stuff that we've actually heard that hasn't made certain albums (ie. Trapeze and OTIF) it's pretty clear why they didn't make the albums.
Trapeze is basically the same idea as Clumsy is, and it wouldn't make sense to have two songs about the same idea on the cd, especially that being something do specific as what those two songs represent. As for OTIF it wasn't that great of a song, it was probably inspired by what they did with Whatever, and not only wouldn't have fit in well on Gravity, but its just not very good (even compared to the hkigh standards of Gravity)

Yeeeah...

And besides......10, 11, 12 tracks don't bother me. If I felt like investing the time I could probably give you a shock full of albums with like 14,15,16 songs that shouldn't have even wasted the CD space.

If its a solid CD that has songs that belong together, then thats great. Hawksley's latest has 9 songs plus two bonus songs at the end with a blank song between to show that its not on the CD. The CD itself flows beautifully and if he had just thrown the other songs in for the hell of it, it probably wouldn't have made the point that he wanted it to. What songs are on a CD and what order they are in and all that stuff makes a difference. The artists can spend a lot of time deciding what goes where if they feel its important and it will influence the CD. So don't bitch about how many songs you get if its a really solid album.

And hasn't OLP sold more CD's in the states then Canada? Whats up with that?

Interesting. By those statistics, roughly one of every 500 people owns Gravity in the United States.

It's an interesting way to think about it.

The Clumsy album is like a house-hold name in Canada....

Sorta like the "black light" was in the early 80's in the states....
