4am "solo"

Post by Axtech »

Robo Robbo, at your service, righting the misconceptions of the OLP world.

The 4am guitar solo is not what you think!

There's a mix of two guitar tracks, keys and Raine singing through a voice distorter thingy!

One guitar is doing the "solo" (actually, I'm not sure if there's even actually a guitar there)...

eb|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bb|----------------------------------------------------------------------------------12--12---
Gb|--9-9-11p9--11\13-13-13--13-13^--13-13--13-13^--11h13--11/9-9-9-9---9---9
Db|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ab|--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eb|-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The other guitar is doing something that I just figured out: (tabbed from "hope to God I figure out what's wrong")

..............\/ distortion kicks in
eb|-5-4-2--0-|
Bb|-7-5-4--0-|
Gb|-7-6-4--1-|
Db|-7-6-4--2-|
Ab|-5-4-2--2-|
Eb|---------0-|

eb|----------------------------------0-|
Bb|----------------------------------0-|
Gb|-9\777-77\666-6/77-----------1-|
Db|-9\777-77\666-6/77--777777-2-| <--- "A"
Ab|-7\555-55\444-4/55--777777-2-|
Eb|-------------------------555555-0-|

eb|-----------------------------------0-|
Bb|-----------------------------------0-|
Gb|--7/9999\4444\7777------------1-|
Db|--7/9999\4444\7777---777777-2-| <--- "B"
Ab|--5/7777\2222\5555---777777-2-|
Eb|--------------------------555555--0-|

The rhythm part is (I think) far more fun. To figure out how to play it (strumming and whatnot), see if your computer has a "voice cancellation" feature. It should turn off Raine's distorted voice, the keys and the other guitar (if there is actually another guitar there).

You're rythem guitar is wrong Bobbo :P You just about got it right. The rythem guitar plays octaves:

e-------------
b------------
g-9/7---7--7
d-x x---x--x
a-7/5---5--5
e------------

I'd type out the rest but I effing hate typeing out tabs

Same thing, but my way sounds fuller. :P

Besides, how do you know he plays octaves and not power chords...?

Actually, I think it's octaves untill you get to the "A -> E" part (last two chords in the progression), then it's a power chord for A, and the full campfire chord for E.

I tend to agree with you there Bobbo, I like the rythem better. And what is this "voice cancellation" doo-icky that you speak of?

On my sound card's program, there's an option called "Voice Cancellation", which, when selected, filters out all sound in a pre-set range. It takes away some tone from the music, but it virtually eliminates the vocals from songs, so you can better hear the music. The only problem is that it sometimes takes away guitar parts if they happen to be in the given range, though the guitar tracks are usually left mostly untouched.

My guitar teacher has this really cool program where you can put in the tab, and the computer will play it for you. You can add other intruments too. Yeah, I think its cool, and stuff...
