"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

Since I'm going COMMANDO, I better not do any THRUSTING *begins to thrust*
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

1994... I was 9... listening to Dookie, Versus, Day for Night, and In Utero. Heard a new band on the radio calling themselves OLP. I don't recall hearing Birdman played that much but I remember Naveedwas all over the Edge. It was a great year for OLP amidst a terrible year for rock. [Not CD wise, but we all miss Cobain]. OLP have had quite a few good albums over the years, Gravity - not so much. I don't believe in simplifying your sound to reach a broader audience, but to each their own. For the future I want to see OLP making music for themselves, not for appeal. I want them to do what they want to do and ignore album sales and bullshit, experiment with what they want. I want them to do what Pearl Jam is doing. Making music for themselves, and people who like what they make, not for everyone, with sponsored shows and whatnot.

Not wanting to start an argument but what tells you they didn't want to make gravity for themselves?, I guess unless you are in the band its all just an opinon but I believe they made gravity for themselves to experiment with a totally new sound for them.

As for on topic I was 8 and didn't give two hoots about music. just me and my teenage mutant ninja turtles toys\m/.

Only ten years? Wow.

Seems like forever ago but yet it makes sense when I think about it.

13 years old at them time, just starting to listen to something other than Weird Al and Dr. Demento.

I remember listening to Naveed and Starseed on the air but never really knew about OLP untill Clumsy.

Bought Clumsy became addicted to it like crack, then when I got over that high I checked out Naveed, and I've been a OLP Junky ever since.

10 years and still kicking ass, not many modern bands can say that.
5 albums in 10 years, not many modern bands can say that either.

Direction? That's tough to say. When a band has ranged from an album like Naveed to an album like Spiritual Machines, then back to an album like Gravity ... what's in store for us next?

I'm in total agreement with everyone else: Here's to another 10 years!

10 years ago, I was turning 6, and probably watching some Power Rangers marathon, too. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and watching my mom go insane.

Oh, oh, oh! and probably conspiring against my evil 11-year-old neighbour, too.
"if the nuremberg trials were applied to us foreign policy, every us president since 1945 would have been hanged." noam chomsky.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.
