maybe not all of them, but Return of The King was a very very well done movie. It deserved most of what it got.
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

Maybe because it has such a large ensemble cast it is hard to pinpoint one performance. However, in my opinion, Sean Astin deserved a nod for best actor.

the other actors in the other movies were also very good, but i guess now that i think of it almost all the characters had pretty moving parts in LoTR. Esspecially Elijah

No, Ian McKellen didn't win. The oscar went to Jim Broadbent for his role in Iris.

I thought what was going to happen was LOTR would not win best picture and everything else would be compensation oskars. I guess I was wrong.
Man that was a crazy night. In all honesty, I don't don't think they were deserving of every oscar. There are other groundbreaking films out there besides LOTR that were deserving of those awards. I personally think this is the academy's compensation for LOTR not winning much in the other years when it should have won stuff.
I missed the special effects award. Was the matrix even a nominee. Despite being a crappy movie it probably had the best special effects of the year.
Congrats to canadians! The Barbarian Invasions won for best foreign film. Go Canada!

Yeah, I don't think they deserved everything.

There were no big surprises at the awards which depressed me. Bill Murray or Johnny Depp should've won Best Actor. Although maybe I should see Mystic River first.. :P

I donno....everything that LOTR took they seemed to diserve...I mean that movie was so flawless. It was pretty astounding. I wouldn't be able to point out a catagory that they shouldn't have won.

The one thing I didn't like about the movie is that it didn't end.
When lights go down your supposed to leave the theater, not watch a continuation of the movie. Everyone was starting to leave and then it just popped back up again. It was a great movie but that was a little annoying.

I know what he means..

In RotK, it looked like it was over multiple times but more scenes kept popping up. That annoyed me too, but that's apparently sort of what it's like in the book.

It's just that there's multiple threads of the story that end on their own, before everything comes together.

The ending is where the credits are.

Not exactly rocket science. :P
