Ten years ago...
It's hard to believe this, but ten years ago, on March 22, 1994, one of the greatest things in Canadian music history happened... Naveed was released. Since then, OLP have become one of the most successful bands in Canadian history. Lets hear what you gotta say about the album now. And what were you doing ten years ago?
Also... not trying to start another gravity thread here, but what do you think of OLP's direction over the last ten years?

Their direction, to be as as simply as it can be, is all their own. Ten years ago, i didnt even live in north america..i was a catholic schoolgirl in scotland, albeit only 5.

The album now? Gravity? I liked it because it was different from from earlier OLP. Something different from my favorite band. Their new stuff seems to be quite interesting as well. That's all from me.
-->note, the only time that I hated OLP was when Emtee left. I actually went and threw my cds in the trash. I recovered them the next day.

Professional Canadian.
Naveed was probably their most original work and arguably there best although they all have their own brand of greatness.......well other then one........i thought American Hi-Fi pulled of an album better in that brand...but we won't get into that topic again

Holy cow, how many 16 year-olds are on this board? That makes 3 of us who've replied to this thread..
Anyways yeah, 6 years old.. kindergarten.. arguably better times. Although if I had known about Naveed at the time, it might have been even better 'cause I woulda been one seriously grunged-out kid.

Technically I was five too
Even though SM is my favorite album, naveed is close. It's so original, and unlike Clumsy, I think the songs flow better. Whenever I introduce people to OLP, it shocks them that they are such an old band.
NO. I do not introduce them to gravity.
But it shows that OLP has been able to be youthful and energetic with their music over the years. They're not like an old band yet. (Though personally I think things are going to peter out after album 6).
In all honesty, I've owned Naveed for less than a year. Yes, It took me a while. But it always had such an impact on me. The album was intentionally made with an essence, just like SM or arguably Happiness.... It flows from song to song, evoking feelings like a movie or story. To listen to it chronologically is a totally different experience than picking out singles.
And remember, for a first shot at a CD this is pretty damn groundbreaking.
So here's to 10 years Raine and Jer. Here's to making more music Emtee. Chris, wherever you are, congrats. If your not dead yet Sol Fox, here's 10 years to you. And I guess we can congratulate Duncan since he was supposed to be an original member. So here's to OLP and all their wonderful acheivements.

yup.
I was blisfully unaware of who OLP was.
I was just getting over the new kids on the block phase.
Actually now that I think about it, 1994 was arguably the worst year of my life.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Hmmm.....ten years ago (I was 14) and just an ordinary only child. I didn't have a girlfriend yet, but I had a best friend (who was a girl) and we later became "friends with benefits". We tried being a couple.......but it was one of them "too good of friends to work" sorta deals.
I didn't even know OLP existed until after Happiness was released. I had heard "Starseed" and "Supermans Dead" on the radio, but didn't really pay much attention.
I think their directions have been one of the deepest and creative of any band I have ever collectively listened to. I know I'm one of the few, but I don't have many bitches about what they've chosen to do with their music. I do think the next album is gonna kick ass......and shut up many uh-peoples.
