"menstrual awareness week"? i mean, seriously, now they trying to make having your period a confrontation with the evil and omnipresent "patriarchy"?
i don't know about you, but even the most sexist guys i know don't care one way or the other about a woman's period. seriously, who makes fun of a girl for being on her period? has anybody ever done this?
i mean, look at this shit:
'We want to promote a reclaiming of something that"s thought of as bad by our society and really appreciate and celebrate it,' Brenner said
are you joking? who the hell thinks of periods as "bad"? do women really need to reclaim them? because i don't know any men who are that interested in taking them away.
OMG!!! Lets celebrate!!! I'll make some tampon confetti!!!! And we'll serve Midol and the whole thing will just be super!

women are the ones annoyed by periods not men, hell we don't even want to know about them

Though I just scanned the article, I think what they might be saying is that a lot of teens are embarassed about having their period, and they're trying to promote that it's a normal part of development, and nothing to be ashamed of.
Yeah, well, those teens can deal with it. This is just as bad as feminism. God damnit, I don't need to hear a week of pro-period propaghanda. I'll cope with it when men get a "Raging hard boner" week or something, so we can reclaim the stick of life from women.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
but really, it isn't like young teen guys don't have embarrasing moments. Nothing is worse then getting a bone in a public place like school and freaking out. . Some poor guy in my gr. 8 class had it happen and when the teacher asked him to go up to recite his speach he had to say in front ofthe whole class why.......i personally would have shot myself later that day

The same thing happened last year. The kid went up to do his speech, and the worst thing was that it was on airplanes, and right when he was talking about the takeoff, it....happened. Poor kid. The girls in the class were NOT nice about it too. The teacher tried to pretend they were laughing about something else, but it didn't really work.
I guess getting your period is just more embarressing when you're younger, but as you get older, it becomes a fact of life really. When I was in grade 7, some girl told all the guys that I had already gotten it, and at the time I was hugely embarresed, but now that I think about it, they probably couldnt of given a shit.
You were always pleasant to be around, no matter what circumstances existed.

lol i know i didnt' really give a fuck about girls periods. actually now that i think of it, most of use guys didn't even know had or didn't havetheir periods, or care. I was an early bloomer to Yannic, it's petrifying.
although you do have a certain sense of satisfaction when somone makes fun of you and you know that your........ahem...more advanced then them

lol! Being made fun of for your period!? Thats never happened to me:\. I mean comparatively i was a late bloomer, and i did feel left out but no one ever made fun of me. And for sure girls got it during school and people saw but i've never heard or seen anyone make fun of them for it. and i think the only time a guy cares if a girl has her period is if he wants to have sex. .

yeah i know what you mean. all my guy friends know and we like, talk about it kinda and no one really cares...
actually i know basically all my female friends periods, mainly because they warned us guys and now we have figured out that during that time we need to tip toe around them. Although sometimes i swear it's an excuse

I don't care about a women's period really either. I know about it, and know that it can make some women really bitchy, or some just get bad cramps which were described to me once (like getting kicked in the nuts) if they are bad enough.
I saw a recent tampon commercial where the ignorant male teacher doesn't know what a tampon is because it is so small........and all the guys are like "uhh. we're dumb".............but all the girls get some stupid ass joke at the end about there's enough for all the girls in the class...........ha........ha
I wish they would not address these things so superficially. THe last thing we need is more yeast infection commercials, but for god's sake, please give both genders some realistic qualities that might be upstanding, up to date, and open-minded)
"Hi, my name's Dave Foley, and, uh, something you might not know about me is that .. I have a good attitude towards menstruation. That's right, I'm the guy! The guy with a good attitude towards menstruation!
Oh, I know a lot of men are made uncomfortable by this monthly miracle. But not me. No, I embrace it. Embrace it the way the way some men embrace the weekend! Why I anticipate it the way a child anticipates Christmas!
Did you know that, uh, in alot of native Indian cultures, menstruating woman were forced to leave the village, less they're *powerful* magic should overwhelm the Shaman? If I were Shaman, I wouldn't be so competitive. I'd be more open and giving. I'd be a shaman with... a good attitude towards menstruation!
'Cause after all, what is it? a cluster of blood vessels, awaiting a fertilized egg. Providing a safe warm place for that egg to grow. And if a life does not occur, the whole thing is flushed away, and the cycle begins again. Now is that anything to be ashamed of or disgusted by? No, this is the nesting stuff of humanity!
That's why the woman I shall love will be able to menstruate as fully and freely as she desires. Even if her monthly flow should build in intensity to a raging rust colored torrent! An unbridled river of life giving blood flowing from between her legs! An awesome cataract plunging off the edge of our couch. I wouldn't be fazed! No, no, even if coureur de bois would come up stream, battling the rapids, and singing a 'jaunty song'! I would take no offense, rather I would ford across that mighty womanly river, and fetch herbal tea and Pamprin. And then I would mop her brow and admire her fecundity. For I...Have A Good Attitude....Towards MENSTRUATION!"
I am personally ashamed of all you for taking this long to post this thing. Seriously people.
