I checked them out, and they're not really the sound I want. They've definately got the sharper, harder rock edge, but they're kind of wasted on the softer sound. I want a more well-rounded pickup.

But, the thing is, I like the gold hardware (plus, the Custom Plus is a much better quality guitar), but I like the gold tone & volume knobs too. The gold knobs, however, go much better with the cream plasticware (in fact, they look shitty with the black [I tried that too]).
I think I'll probably end up going with the Custom Plus with the black. Unless of course the cost is uproariously higher than the one I was looking at in the store...

I don't think I mentioned, I got a bass for Christmas.
It's a Peavey, nice sound, black/sunburst styling. I'll see if I can get a pic up here.
Alas though, my bloody patch cable broke this weekend so I'm playing unplugged for the time being.

Just because I am sexy, naked, a bassist, and sporting a top hat doesn't make me Duncan Coutts!

Yeah. But I hurt my neck when I watched the price skyrocket.
Anywho, it's all orded up and everything (no money down!)
I am getting this guitar exactly as you see it in the picture.
Here's the specs...
Pickups: Alnico Classic HB, Alinco Hot HB
Hardware: Gold
Scale: 24.75"
Nut Width: 1.68"
Neck: Set
Neck Material: Maple
Fret Board: Rosewood
Body Material: Mahogany/Alder
Top: Flame Maple
Here's the cost:
Guitar list: $779
Guitar with hard case and tax: $1000
Guitar with hard case and tax after my dad talked him down in price: $920
Trade in on old guitar (I'm actually getting a better price at a different store): $170
GRAND TOTAL: $750
Not a bad price for a sweet ass little guit box.
