Best Moment In An OLP Song?

Post by Baby Thief »

What's your favorite moment in an OLP song? Like a guitar solo, something raine says, drum solo, etc.

Mine would be either the guitar solo in 4am, the final chorus in Blister when they add in 'Don't touch me/ Don't trust me', the part in the live dvd's 'In Repair' where Raine says 'The wheels, the air, the metal, the mouth, for SOMETHING SOMETHING SOMETHING!'.

Any other favorite moments?

I am sure there is a thread like this somewhere else. I remember seeing it awhile back. I will see if I can find it for you.

From the albums: the 'is gone ...' bit of Naveed.

Live: the bit in In Repair where Raine sings 'the wheels, the air ... something something SOMETHING' and he's almost shouting at the end. And especially the instrumental bit at the end of Are You Sad?
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

In Repair (The live version...."the wheel, the air, the metal, the mout, something, something, something"...followed by an amazing guitar solo)

Story about a girl (near the end when he sings "i know, your stuck inside your head.....")

Naveed(the first main guitar riff after the bass intro)

4am(obviously the guitar solo)

thats all i can think of right now....
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

The part of In Repair that everyone else mentioned, including the guitar solo. God, I love that solo. It's like the guitar is crying or something. So beautiful.

As for the albums... Wow, that's hard. I'll have to think about that.

The notorious scream in Car Crash. Fantastic.

The guitar in Naveed (especially Mike's live versions, Music Without Borders anyone?). Thrilling.

Steve's solo in Starseed. Unbelieveable.

The singsongy guitar melody Mike plays in the second verse of Clumsy.

The palm mutes in Life: "She gets high, she gets lost *palm mute*..."

*Almost at a whisper* "Leave a little room... for us to breathe..."

You know what's weird? You're all saying that you love the 4am guitar solo, but few people actually know what the solo sounds like. All you hear there is Raine singing through some distorter thingy and keys.

If you have an audio program that can filter out voice sounds, try that in the solo so you can actually hear it.

Everything.

 That's not an answer, you say? Hmm...

Well, just like everyone else, I also absolutely LOVE the live version of In Repair where Raine ends almost screaming on "the wheels, the air, the metal, the mouth... something something SOMETHING!!"  I'm so glad it's like that on the DVD... I've been telling people to download a German bootleg where he sings it like that for like a year now cos it's just so amazing.

Car Crash... all the vocals in that song.

Guitar intro on Starseed.

OK, I've just realized that I could go on for a very very long time... so I'm just gonna stop cos nobody'd read it all anyway.

Much of Naveed.
Much of Clumsy.
Most of Happiness...
All of SM.
None of Gravity.
