Switchfoot

Post by I AM ME »

so i saw their video for "meant to live" and i really liked the tune. I downloaded some of the album and liked it, although so far it's not anywherenear as fast and hard as "Meant to live" it's still some really good quailty mellow songs though
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

they're a christian rock group that only has one decent song and I'm afraid that Meant To Live is it.

I just have one question... something i've always wondered about. Why did you have to mention that they were a christian rock group? If a band has christians in it, the question weither they are a christian band ALWAYS comes up. Its also always mentioned in reviews. Lots of bands have members that follow different religions. Yet they are never mentioned as say a Buddist rock group. Anyway i'm just wondering. :P

I think it has more to do with the content of the songs. If the lyrics are mostly based on their faith, they're a Christian band.

If a band of Buddhists wrote songs about the Five Precepts and the Eightfold Path, they would be called a Buddhist band. Though, the whole music industry goes against Buddhist prinicples, so I doubt that would happen.

yea they are very open with their religion and dont disagree their music is about it.

I have their new cd and tis alright, some songs drag but it was worth $7. And for who said they have one good song, well that is probably b/c you didnt listen to any other songs.

"Learning to Breathe" and "Dare you to Move" are my two favorite

I heard Meant to Live on the radio a while back, and I really liked it. I was shocked, because it is very seldom that I hear a good song on the radio that I don't already know...hahah. well anyways. Yeah, I like it. They also have a cover of a Mandy moore song called Only Hope and I really like that too, for some inexplicable reason.

A cover of a mandy moore song????

Mandy Moore covered them. Dont feel bad though, most people dont realize it. Only Hope ( the song Mandy Moore covered) was off an earlier cd of theres. Mandy Moore happened to cover it in " A walk to remember" i think... a lot of switchfoot songs are in that movie/soundtrack.

Here is the old switchfoot thread because the other one had nothing to do with Switchfoot and was deleted

Anyway, back on topic

I have the new Switchfoot cd and it is alright but nothing amazing. I would just d/l their popular/single songs b/c they seem to be the best.

Hey hey, looks like Rob's been deleting my posts again!
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

ya I noticed that too this time...
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

I borrowed the new Switchfoot CD from my church and burnt it. I like it but I was kinda dissapointed that more of the songs werent as "hard" , for lack of a better word, than meant to live.
