I've tried it once or twice. If you know how to draw its not that hard and it can make shading look great.

I enjoy it actually. If you like sketching with pencils then charcoal isnt that bad.

Bit too messy for me.. I only use it if I've got a whole crapload of shading to do.

I'm a really crappy artist, but drafting in charcoal is actually kinda fun, in my opinion. :)

I can't draw too well myself, but I used to do simple stuff in charcoal, and I thought it was a great medium to work with. :)

Yeah, if I had time, and charcoal, and a way to not get messy....then I would use it.
