Songs about Adolescents/Bullying

Post by AnnieDreams »

Does anyone know any good songs about adolescents or bullying (besides the obvious olp ones) I need them for a school project and I'm too dumb to think of more than four.. plus it would be interesting to see what kind of songs like that are out there.

the msot obvivous would be Nirvana- SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT. some others I can think of. Beastie Boys "Fight For Your Right", Skid Row-"18 and Life"(this is the darker side though), POD-"Youth Of The Nation", The Offspring-"The Kids Aren't All Right", Twisted Sister-"We're Not Going To Take It", Rod Stewart-"Young Hearts",

if you want to go with ABUSE you can use Pat Benatar's -"Hell Is For Children' and Suzanne Vega's "LUKA"

Hope that helps. If I think of anymore I will let you know. It has been a long time since I was a teen.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Freak by Silverchair might be good...

that song kicks azz.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Gail, just to let ya know, it's "Adam's Song" You were like 99% of the way there too. The word song should be omitted from song titles anyway.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Untouchable by Dakona -> there are two versions, the neweer one from Perfect Change seems to me to be talking more specifically about abuse than the older one from Ordonary Heros which is a bit more cryptic(sp?).

Speaking of my language project. . . does anyone know where I can find a good but brief (like 40 words) Pear Jam bio?

in 40 words? that's crazy short.

There was a band. They named themselves "Pearl Jam". They had a cool song called "Jeremy". The End.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.
