Actually SATs are superhard... it's not something you can actually study for, just stuff they expect you to already know. Not like you can cram for it and then forget it... you'll be trying to remember everything you've learned.
And yeah I guess I am pretty lucky about the NYU thing... But I'm sure you'll get in! You seem super-smart!

i also have no clue what to go into. i figure i'll just hover around for the first year, and figure out what i like.
but anyway, i applied at acadia (and was accepted!), mount saint vincent (before i realized it was mainly a women's university, and now i've changed my mind), and st. mary's (which i think is my top choice). acadia used to be my first choice..but it's hellishly expensive. so..we'll see.
I applied to U of Ottawa, Carleton, and Western through OUAC, as well as McGill through their online application. The Ontario schools are in the order i listed them, i basically tacked Western on just to fill my three choices... i realllllly have my heart set on U of Ottawa, or at least the city of Ottawa (ie Carleton). I'm hoping to get into all of them, anyway.
I dunno I applied to General Arts programs and I'll have a 90+ average plus an International Baccalaureate diploma as well as the Ontario one so I don't see why I should have much problem! As for McGill..... they want 34 points for IB students (out of 45) which is the highest requirement i have EVER seen... plus the want an average of 6.5/class or 39 points to even be CONSIDERED for a basic scholarship.... which is like a 98% average!!! Regular ontario kids only need 92? WTF?
So basically, it goes like this: I love Ottawa to bits and if the b/f can join me there then it's the place for me. If, for whatever reason, that doesn't work out - McGill, here I come.

1. Aboriginal students who have no (or at least negligibly little) connection to their very distant relatives, yet still get their education FULLY FUNDED by our tax dollars, because our very distant relatives (who I think we all agree that we have no connection to) stole their very distant relatives' land. I think it's about time the compensation stopped, or at least started going to the right places.
2. I know a guy who doesn't have to apply to university. He's already accepted to all of the universities he was considering, just because he runs a short distance and then jumps a long one (also known as long jump). Bastard.
Ahh Robbo, we do the same thing here with the Native Americans and their education. If you can prove you have a little bit of the heritage in ya, you get your college paid for you.
I just think this is interesting. What happens if we're able to prove that those "natives" actually stole the land from someone else? Does that mean we get to take the reserves and money from them? I think about these things, and I don't know why.

Please don't say anything to negative about the natives please. Yes, I am a a status indian and I can get my education paid for but, sadly, most indians don't really need it. They can pay their way through school pretty well. They don't deserve the money. Period. My cousin Jesse for example: He went to University for four years;his education was fully funded by my reserve. And do you know what he did with the cash? He wasted it. Spent it on booze and drugs. Now, 5 years later, he's got nothing to show for it. My cousin Leah, she got into the University of Manitoba. She didn't last a week. She called her daddy to come and get her. So...she pissed the money away...on booze and bingo. Now she works as a baby sitter. Theres no way that I'd let that slut near my child. My cousin Trisha was slighty better. She actually spent money on school but lots went to drinking and bingo. Goddam Slut. I fucking hate my cousins. Useless pieces of shit.
Now, I will say this: There are some truly gifted Native students (who come from a poorer backround) who could actually benefit from this program. They're the ones who deserve it because they actually want an education. They deserve to have a chance at life even though they're parents cant really provied them one.
We(Indians) are too spoiled and we went soft. They mostly choose to live on their reserve because they don't have to pay income tax if they live and work there. They barely have any bills to pay as well. Quite Frankly I know most of the indians on my reserve could not and will not survive if they had to live off the reserve. Its pathetic. I know exactly 5 people that can make it.
Now my opinion is coming from my views as a Native and my personal experiance around my reserve. I have no idea what the other reservations are like. They could be better and they could be worse(Believe me, I Know)
I'm not proud at the way my fellow Natives act. Its shamefull and it saddens me.
But I'm sure you'll get in! You seem super-smart!
