In Need Of New Music

Post by Baby Thief »

I've overplayed every good band i have come across. It's terrible! I now am in dire need of a good band. I'm finding myself to go all over the place with the style of rock music i enjoy. Going from hard rock to punk to slow to melodic. Recent favorite bands have been Matt good, radiohead, At The Drive In (and the other two (sparta, mars volta)), Incubus. So anything similar to anyone of those bands would be cool. But really, i'm up for any suggestions. Thanks.

Definitely check Oceansize if you haven't already.

I also recommend Feeder, Hell is for Heroes and Lukewarm, a very good band from Holland.

Oh man, just sit back and relax. I'm going to give you a list that will go on forever.

Alkaline Trio: I'd give you lots of songs, but the list would go on forever. Check out Bleeder, Radio, You've Got So Far To Go, Every Thug Needs A Lady, Fuck You Aurora, Stupid Kid, Take Lots With Alcohol, Maybe I'll Catch Fire, and 97.

Koufax: Saturday's Alone, Social Life, Come Back To Life, So Long To Good Times

Interpol: Obstacle 1, PDA, NYC, Obstacle 2, Stella Was A Diver and She Was Always Down

Murder By Death: "Until Morale Improves, The Beatings Will Continue", Killbot 2000, Three Men Hanging, End of the Line

Jawbreaker: Boxcar, Do You Still Hate Me?, Jinx Removing, Kissed The Bottle, Chemistry

Motion City Soundtrack: Well, anything by them is worth listening to.

Jesus, there's like 20 other bands I want to list, but I'll start you out with that, then post more bands after someone else writes in this thread.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

 how could I forget them, some songs: Hysteria, Dead Star, Bliss, Muscle Museum
And if you like it, try Zornik (It's So Unreal, Once Again), they're from Belgium.

There are just too many good bands to name them all (Firewater, Elbow, Travis, Flaming Lips, Stereophonics (old stuff), Eels, etc). What I sometimes do is just pick a word and search songs with that in the title, usually something interesting turns up.

I would say you should listen to some Zeppelin. Chances are you already have (who hasn't?), but if you haven't, definately check them out. I'd stay away from live stuff, like the BBC sessions or How The West Was Won until you get into them, that is, if you do. And stay away from the later albums, they tend to be crappier. But definately any song in their first five or six albums. Amazingly melodic bass (it isn't just root notes with them, John Paul Jones actually has talent), and of course, Jimmy Page's guitar needs no description. One of the best drummers, ever. And Robert Plant, who is incredibly like Janis Joplin. I think I've talked them up enough. The End.
This is my story both humble and true,
Take it to pieces and mend it with glue.

I disagree about 30 seconds to mars... probably the worst band I've ever seen live. They actually got booed by a lot of the crowd when they opened for OLP in Buffalo. Jared Leto came down to the front row and told us all to shut the hell up cause he could hear us.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
