I personally don't think Our Lady Peace were aiming for the "Live" album to be a huge hit, breaking records etc. There is one new song on the record, our time is fading and also whatever which aint on any of the albums. For me live was a great album (devaluated now that I have about 50 of their shows) but I think its great for people who haven't heard them live, or who can relate the CD to one of their previous live performances. The songs are taken that bit further and are different to the album version in the sense that the crowd are involved, the lyrics are slightly different, and Raine's voice is different.
I think you have the wrong vibes of what OLP were trying to send out from the album. Every good band lets the public hear what they can do live.
As for the comment about OLP not being at their best, well the hardcore fans are going to stick up for them through the highs and lows, despite what other people say, there has negative feedback for Gravity from all parties, but the songs I have heard from the new stuff look to be heading back to the top.

Just as a comment to what you said... I agree, if OLP where looking to break records and make "Live" a huge success, they would have released tons or tracks from it not just one for two (Not Enough, and Starseed?.. not sure if starseed was released) They could have easily put out "Out Time Is Fading" because it's a new song, or even "Whatever".
So I believe this cd was more for the fans that want a top quality live recording.
