The Matthew Good Appreciation Thread
I think it's kinda far-fetched but it would be pretty cool.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

The instrumentation of the record is quite elaborate. While I perform mostly acoustic guitar and vocals, I have written parts for a Baroque quartet (which is excellent because of the sound of cat gut strings as opposed to metal strings) and a small choir that has been extremely fun to work with. There are also some other interesting elements as well that I won't give away at present.

...oh my... 22 songs... that's... just...

That seriously made my day. And i had a delayed opening today too!
So a storyline... hmmm. It keeps on making me think of Spiritual Machines. And Matt doing that! It should be outstanding! Hopefully the story will be good. By storyline does he mean somehting he made up, or a story that already exists... like Alice In Wonderland...

Those shows so aren't going to happen over here though - that would be far too expensive

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.
And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

i think matt is playing games
on rich rocks site
"The 10-track, 30-40 minute record features an upbeat, old-school feel. The album is produced again by Warne Livesey and is recorded live off the floor. This means the album will be recorded with all musicians playing at once. The sound is described by Rich Rock as The Strokes meets Wilco meets Coldplay."
this is what i originally heard about a week earlier so i would tend to believe this version of the record.

Whaaa...
That doesn't make a lot of sense. i didn't think it was possible for Matt to fit 10 of his songs in 40 minutes...
Anyways, i think i'd believe his words over your source. no offense. Ofcourse, I am new to this whole Matt good thing so you could be right. It also might be from my wishful thinking...
And BTW - can someone please get those new bootlegs on the hub? I haven't heard any of his new songs except for 4 minute mile....

Rich is kinda dependable though as well, he's Matt's long time friend and Bass player of many years, plus Matt likes to pull our legs and joke alot

Matt wouldn't be able to make a 40 minute CD... he likes the idea of making long songs.

Yeah, but he seemed really happy with Avalanche. And that had... what... 5 songs that were at least 6 minutes. I couldn't see a 40 minute cd. But i guess i have to put trust in whatever this man does. his genious is way beyond mine.

I say we don't trust anyone until the album is out.
Sound good?

from noc
Matthew is currently in the studio in Vancouver finishing his 6th studio album. As has become custom, Warne Livesey is producing the record. Some special guests that have appeared on the record are Keith Scott, who was kind enough to play lead guitar on "Hopeless" and Paul Rigby who was gracious enough to perform pedal steel on four songs, including "Empty Road" and "Blue Skies Over Bad Lands".
The recording process was undertaken with the goal to try and stick to using those techniques that were available in the 60’s and early 70’s as much as was possible. Besides the recording format, this goal was accomplished much of the time. Kyle Davison is documenting the entire process on film.
