Top 10 songs of 2003

Post by thirdhour »

It's getting towards the end of the year, sooo...this is the part you list your favs of the year.

Wasn't too bad of a year in music, m'say.

Matt Good - Weapon [one of his best videos too, probably the reason my addiction started]
Coldplay - Clocks [just a freakin good song]
Finger Eleven - One Thing [wow]
Dandy Warhols - Bohemian Like You [one of those songs that years from now i'll hear, and be like, wow I remember that year]
Sam Roberts - Where Have All The Good People Gone? [he rocks it, what else can ya say]
The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army [video is craaazy]
Billy Talent - Try Honesty [again, one of those memory songs]
David Usher - Time Of Our Lives [I just like it....]
3DD - Here Without You [I don't actually like 3dd, but there's something about this song]
Sarah McLachlan - Fallen and Dido - White Flag [meh, lets count them as one song]

I'll do albums later.

Well, I already did my top 5 albums, so doing it again would be a waste.

Top 10 records:

1. Andre 3000 - Hey Ya
2. Alkaline Trio - We've Had Enough
3. The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
4. The White Stripes - 7 Nation Army
5. Brand New - The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows
6. The Von Bondies - C'mon C'mon
7. Mike Felumlee - 64 Hours
8. Murder By Death - Three Men Hanging
9. The New Amsterdams - The Spoils of the Spoiled
10. Bouncing Souls - Anchors Aweigh

I did this list under the assumption you only wanted songs that were played on the radio. And with that, I know Mike Felumlee never made it on the radio outside of Chicago.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

oops, I didn't see the other thread.

I meant any song that was released as a single. Didn't really have to be played on the radio, since I wouldn't of heard it anyway, our radio here sucks.

no then the world would actually have good music...

there just happens to be a lot of old OLP fans who now like that type of music on here. The music we listen to is maybe 5% of what is played on the radio so it is hard to even call them singles.

I thought up a list, but almost every one of the singles have already been mentioned... so I'm just gonna add Pilate's "Into Your Hideout".
"if the nuremberg trials were applied to us foreign policy, every us president since 1945 would have been hanged." noam chomsky.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

No offense guys, but i am kind of dissapointed in some of your picks.

I mean... michelle branch? Christina Aguilara? Finger Eleven's one Thing? 3DG's Everything About You? One thing is probably one of f11's worst songs to date. 3DG's song is so repetitive and uninspiring it's disgusting.

Thankfully Outkast and Matt Good did not go unnoticed. If their songs weren't on any of the lists i probably would have never returned to these boards because of the lack of good musical taste. But what about Jet and Switchfoot and Interpol and Mars Volta?

Sorry to be such a jerk, but i haven't had the best day/week.

you should be sorry
everyone doesn't have to like the same songs as everyone else. maybe people like them for different reasons. They could love the beat, or maybe the song relates to something signifcant in their life.
im sure people would disagree with the ones on YOUR list.
