Raine and Avril Recording Together
i'm actually really excited to see how this turns out. i'm really looking forward to Avril's new stuff, and with raine producing, i'm convinced it's going to be amazing. woohoo!
you have to, you just have to trust me

actually it was knockin' on heaven's door. Stairway to Heaven is a way better song that OLP SHOULD cover thoug......well as long as they don't pull an Imagine and try and fuck with it alot. Messing up STH would be a disgrace to all of rock. But anyways, my guess if it is true is that she asked Matt Good who shut her down so she went to Raine instead
i posted this in the replacement board, but yeah. you're right, it was knocking on heaven's door. i should've remembered that cuz i was confused when she left out the "doorwalk" part, but thanks. and i liked the live version of imagine more than the recorded version

Because of the board's problems, I didn't know there was a 3rd page to this thread... this is replying to the 2nd page, not so much this one:
Wow, thanks guys. Way to attack us personally just cos some of us don't want Raine collaborating with an artist we don't like.
Personally, I think she's a perfect example of what's wrong with the music industry today... and that's my personal opinion. I think I'm entitled to that and to not want one of my favorite musicians to collaborate with her. Sure, I didn't explain why I'd be jumping out of a window before (), but still.
Why can't we just speak on here with our different opinions, without turning things into arguments? It's cool to disagree, but no need to say people are "freaking out" or "immature" and make fun.

Here we go. Shut up.
I say I don't want this to happen because the only thing that could happen is bad music. Bad music isn't good. I like good music. Anything that could come from that would be embarassing.
Every song that OLP has put out since The Wonderful Future is miserably bad. Each song makes me like OLP less and less. But I still want to believe Raine will sit down and spend time with what he's writing instead of writing a litany of cliches as an attempt for metaphors that all the little boys and girls can understand. The duet with Avril will just kill my faith in Raine.
Sorry for wanting the band I used to want to kill to see to stop sucking. I'll take my views on OLP to a messageboard that talks about OLP. Oh wait, this is one. I'll keep my views to myself then, because God knows if you have a view against OLP, you're wrong.
Go ahead, bitch me out for this. I'm waiting.

I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

To be perfectly honest, at first I was like WTF?!?
After some thought though, I don't think it would be so bad afterall. I mean, it's definitely obvious Raine does have a pop kinda side to him. Some may disagree with me, but it's just my opinion. Look at Innocent, which was brought to the table by him during the recording of Gravity. It's, without a doubt, the "poppiest" song they've put out.
I would support Raine on whatever he does. You have to let people explore, let them try new things. They can't be confined into one genre, it's boring.
Unfortunately though, it looks like he won't be doing a song with her according to the article. It's too bad, cuz I kinda wonder what it would have been like. It would be great exposure for OLP. Even though whenever OLP does anything out of the normal, they are automatically 'sell outs'.
Also, I agree with Nikki and Alan. Bashing people for their personal opinions is harsh. C'mon, if we were all on this board saying the same thing, their would be no point. I like to see all different perspectives on the situation, not just the right one or the wrong one.

I can't believe how many people are freaking out over this.
Yeah, I'm a bit surprised and I'm not a big fan of Avril (although I do own her album) but she's not horribly bad that she deserves all this backlash from people. And why is it that people are so quick to put down OLP or Raine for doing something fans would consider "selling out"?
If anything's gonna come out of this, Avril's music could actually improve with Raine's help...especially with no Bob Rock around to mess things up.
And even if it doesn't, so what? If Raine wants to try other things, he should be able to do so without having the fans put him down for it. Now, if Raine started collaborating with Britney Spears or Eminem, THEN I might consider hurling...but that's not the case so I have nothing more to say except "Good luck" to Raine if all this is really true.

And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong
~4am~

i can't believe how bad people are freaking out over raine helping to produce a few songs for another artist .. i mean it's done and over with already .. let's wait for the outcome and see what happens .. if you don't like avril anyway you'll never have to listen to her cd, this isn't affecting our lady peace at all .. it's raine maida producing some songs ..
it's like back in kindergarten when you're best friends with someone and that best friend starts talking to somebody you don't like .. you freak out and say "i'm not talking to you anymore if you're not my friend"
oh man

Some of you are fogetting that Raine needs to have something to fall back on after OLP are done. Producing is something he's seemed interested in for a while now, so to help with Avril's record would really help in making a name for himself as a producer, which in the future will help him get more producer gigs.
It's a smart move on Raine's part. Avril is pretty huge, and anyone who is connected to her and her music right now will get large recognition. I think any and every producer of music in the world would die to get the chance that Raine's getting.
Some people need to stop thinking of them as "my band". I know some people on here are passionate about music, others are just passionate about OLP, but either way you look at it from Raine's perspective it makes incredible amounts of sense in building a life beyond the band.

I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

This thread is really fucked...
Anyway, I heard Chantal and Avril's song on the radio the other day. I went to turn it off, because Christmas music this early pissed me off. Then I realized it was Chantal, so I listened. I oly heard part of it, but the part I heard I couldn't even hear Avil. Maybe she sings the main part at the begining...?
I don't think Raine is recording with Avril, just producing...If he did, I don't think it would be the brightest idea in the world, but I'd move on. I really hope Avril does a good job with this cd. When she was talking about it, she said she wanted way more creative control on this one. She has a prime opportunity to prove herself to the world as respectable, and I really hope she does that. Not quite sure why I care so much...
