i think it's almost everyones, it's the best piece of writing that he's done in that time era
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

"Hold on, hold on children, your mother and father are leaving, hold on, hold on children your best freind's parents are leaving, leaving,.......*AHHH*! " - Death From Above - Black History Month

Yeah so, matt just starts recording like... today or something. Then Taylor says expect the new cd, new website, and documentary late winter/early spring. And OLP went into the studio... what 2 months ago? And we get their cd probably later than Matt's. And the worst part of it is, I can almost guarantee me liking matt's over OLP's.

100$ is a lot for a shirt... I know it's for a good cause, but still...

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

The thing is Matt doesn't care about strategically releasing the album at the right time. The reason OLP's album is coming out later is probably due to what else is being released in the first quarter of 2004. Also Raine and Chantal are expecting a kid at the beginning of the new year, so obviously Raine doesn't want to be touring to promote an album when he has a newborn at home.

but what video would he have done?

He released the two best singles from the cd he could...

Although, I suppose Lullaby wouldn't have been bad.

more tour dates would have been nice, its not like 5 shows in vancouver in less than two weeks was enough

there are rips of some shows. I know that the St Catharines Ontario show from July 16th (roughly) was in mp3 format and it had 3 new songs. I'm pretty sure they were Little Terror, X-Pats, and North American for life. The songs are very good.

i know what it means 'you got me'
we're not sick we just need it for the weekends
on mondays it's gone
i used to think i was invisible beside you'd crumble
you wait for it and you wait for it and it's gone
and you wake up and nobody knows
that i've loved you buried alive

if someone tells me these aren't brilliant lyrics... i'll shoot you

As you may or may not know, Colonel Pork Pie is shooting a documentary of the making of the record. He likes to watch a great deal of television and play about on the studio computer equipment when he should be filming the All-Star Band Stand Ramblers. That is, when he's not cutting class to go and film The Payolas.

Details then.

The record is a double album worth of material and follows a storyline. I'm not going to give away what the story is about, but I will say that there are 22 songs in total.

The instrumentation of the record is quite elaborate. While I perform mostly acoustic guitar and vocals, I have written parts for a Baroque quartet (which is excellent because of the sound of cat gut strings as opposed to metal strings) and a small choir that has been extremely fun to work with. There are also some other interesting elements as well that I won't give away at present.

I have been thinking of performing the new record in smaller venues, perhaps school gyms, having the audience sit in a circle around the players who will do everything without the use of amplification. I believe that fine Icelandic band Sugar Bear something did performances quite similar.

Being that this is my day off, I'm going to the movies. Merry Christmas Metro Goers!
