MmMmMmMmMm... Stephen King... my hero...

Now for ramblings:

My favourite book by him, I think, is The Stand... because that must have taken a hell of a lot of hard work to put together -- and KEEP together for that matter. Although it had some laggy parts in the middle (i read the uncut version), it was still amazing.

But Dreamcatcher was also one of his better ones (IMO) cuz it didn't have any slow parts... it was really solid and well kept together. Plus it was recent, which i wasn't used to reading. I'm used to his old ones (like Carrie, The Shining, Nightmares & Dreamscapes... etc).

One book i absolutely hated by him: IT. (as in the book "IT") ... it sucked... i hated it... and i have my reasons, don't worry...

I still haven't read 'Salem's Lot... how retarded am i? :freak:

But he enjoys killing animals... this can be disturbing at times... he's always slitting cat's throats for "sacrificial blood" reasons... and shoving puppies in fridges to suffocate... THAT i don't like reading about...

can anyone tell me if the book dreamcatcher is like the movie, coz I thought the movie totally blew, and I was surprised that something like that would come from stephen king.

I've read interviews Stephen King where he has described his hate for many movies made from his books, so I would recommend not judging the book by the quality of the movie.

From EW:
Interviewer: What did you think of Children of the Corn I-V?
King: The long answer or short?
Interviewer: The long answer.
King: They all sucked.

The Dreamcatcher movie was a fairly good adaptation.

However, as a movie, it sucked.

How can i hate IT? simple... it just... didn't pull through for me.

The starting was, i must admit, awesome. But as i kept reading (past half way thru) it just sorta fell apart right there in my hands. It got so random and strange that i basically just skimmed through the rest of the book, got the idea of what happened in the end, and... there you go...

okay so yes, maybe i cheated by not finishing out the whole thing... but in the end, i still didn't like it as much as a lot of his other books :neutral:

I went out and bought Dark Tower V: Wolves of the Calla today. It's only in hardcover right now, and costs $55 + tax. I wasn't going to buy it, but I saw it for 30% off and couldn't resist.

I love this series. What's really cool is that I just finished IV last night, so this sale was perfectly timed. Almost (dare I say it?) Ka.

It's probably the only Stephen King book that takes place outside of Maine and Massachusetts, lol, though one of the characters is from Massachusetts.

Yeah, a lot of King's stuff is based in Maine. He lived there for most of his life, and he's said that Maine always had this really strange - evil - vibe to him, even though everyone thinks of it as this beautiful perfect place. So, he wanted to spread that evil vibe to everyone else, and based many/most of his novels there.

I just put up a bookshelf in the basement here, and I've finally organized my books. I've read 11 of King's novels, plus the 5 available books in the Dark Tower series.
