^ (aka "The Spelling Nazi") used improper grammar. Whether or not one knows the sex of the person whom they are speaking of, he/she should never switch to the plural form.

the language is reverting out of the automatic "he" pronoun substitution for an unknown. s/he or he/she was attempted but found to be too clumsy. The correct term is now "they".
