New Album
New Album
I was watching much and Jeremey phoned in from Mauii. He said that the new album should be out in the next 3 months. He also said that although they've simplified some aspects of their music, some of it has become more complex too. I don't know, but I can't wait for the new one.
This is my story both humble and true,

I wouldn't be too surprised either really, but I still wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come out until later... if it's really gonna be out in three months, wouldn't their be a possibility of a new single coming out soon... SOT came out in early March and Gravity came out in June... However, a lot of people got really sick of hearing the song so much when the album release wasn't until like 3 months away... I bet they'll aim the first single to come out late December early January so there is still alot of talk about them to get album sales... this is all if the album actually does come out in feb

I think that's great news. I just hope its bloody true and a single pops up soon........Somewhere Out There appeared about 3 months before Gravity was released.........so i'm hoping for something similar this time around.
If the single starts with "Not" and ends with "Afraid".............woohoo
I am also hoping for some more track titles that OLP will hopefully announce as well. That way my life will have meaning and focus again.
Good Point about Somewhere Out There Jon.........it was out for too long.

SWEETNESS!!! i think the first single will probably be out by like december or january. if it was coming out soon, we probably would've heard more about a video or something like that. this simple/complex thing sounds good. i just hope the production isn't absolute shit, but i dont think olp will do that considering they wanted to overdub their live cd.

Don't want to be down here feeding my narcissism. I must crucify the ego before it's far too late. I pray the light lifts me out before I pine away.

That is exciting and intrigueing news!
As I talked about a long time ago, the album post-Gravity is the one I am most interested in.
If you recall, Bob Rock reduced Metallica to nothing with the Black album and from there they completely re-engineered their sound. They have built on it and pretty much set the archetype for the new radio genre of "modern rock."
Now to see where OLP will go with their sound....this is pretty exciting. You realize if there is a steady lead off single (MTV accessible, a decent release week etc.) that OLP have the potential to hit #1 in the US?
They have proven themselves in the marketplace down south with their last record, it will now be time to reap the payoff. Strange as it sounds in light of my frequent polemics of their recent material, I'm pulling for them.
This could really be their first "Confident" record ever. In my opinion, Naveed and Clumsy were borne out of urgency (one to emerge, the other to survive) and Happines... probably to "preserve" their sound. I think SM and Gravity were two kicks at the same can (with Gravity being the "successful" one)- that can being consistency and a reconciliation of their fanbase and their role in the marketplace.
This is the first album of the rest of their career. I have a feeling its going to be anthemic.
BTW
A good way to predict OLP release dates is to check the stock prices for Sony and compare it with their release schedule. If the stock is declining, and the upcoming release schedule is weak early in the year you won't be surprised if Sony bumps up a few priority releases that might boost profits. An OLP album (a potential US #1 if the material is decent) would certainly do that.
Also with Sony Music and BMG mergeing, increasing the value of Sony stock would be great for current Sony shareholders. Anyone taking Economics care to substantiate this theory with numbers?

There is no way OLP have more then 5 years in them in my opinion...the most there can be is two more albums. They dont strike me as the U2 or Aerosmith type who can grow in their song writing as those bands did. Raine and Duncan are older then Steve and Jer and that will show as well. Though Raine seems to try to act younger every day. Guess time will only tell.

i'm hoping that when he said some parts are going to be more complex they mean guitar work. we know steve has it in him but they've been keeping him reigned in. I spose he did have a few long as solo's, but look at In Repair, he was going nuts and it was genius, and then all the sudden the solo was cut off, it's like there was unfinnished business there, but i gues i'm used to IME now who have huge interludes and instrumentals in every song
