DVD: 2 Audio Tracks

Post by He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named »

I can't be the first to notice this, but there hasn't been anything about it so:

There are 2 audio tracks on the DVD. The first one is cleaned up audio, the second is not.

Basically, on the second track, Raine misses some words, the mic misses him sometimes, and it is much more "live" sounding.

Also, the words match Raine's mouth.

Has anyone else found this? For PS2, just suppress the right analog stick for Audio 2.

No, but that's damn cool.

I guess we now know exactly how much post-production they did on his voice. Does he miss any notes?

I'm sure he doesn't miss notes, it's just different hi/low levels on different tracks. For example, on audio 1 you can't hear the guitar solos, but you can on audio 2. Though you lose a bit of bass on audio 2.

One track is PCM Stereo Audio (2 channels) and one is 5.1 surround sound (5 channels.) If you put the 5.1 surround through 2 speakers it might not sound right or that good on certain speaker setups, thats probably why certain parts can't be heard, due to how the 5.1 surround was mixed and stuff. What I've noticed is that if you put it on the 5.1 surround, certain audio that was out of sync with the video on the PCM Stereo is fixed in the 5.1, such as In Repair, which on my copy is pretty out of sync on the stereo sound channel, but when i switch it to surround everything lines up perfectly.

A lot of times with 5.1 surround though, certain elements are mixed in a way that they only come out of certain speakers, such as in a lot of movies, where most of the voices will come out of the center channel and not so much the front and back channels, so that could be a possible explanation. Hopefully everything will be fixed in the next shipment and the American release.

lol, I'm not saying he never misses a note. I'm saying that, since I've watched it on both audio settings, there are no parts where the mic doesn't pick up the notes he's singing.

Okay, this is weird... I have sterio (not surround sound).

I popped it in my PS2.

"Audio 1 Other" is the less edited track, and is way off the video.
"Audio 2 Other" is the edited track, and is dead on (In Repair).

Then, in my DVD player, I went into the Audio Setup.

The Sterio one is way off.
The Dolby 5.1 is right on (or at least close to it).

To quote that moron from Joe Schmo: "What is going on?!?"

yeah... audio two definitely has some different tracks... starseed, at least is two different tracks... seems like they took the best audio for audio 1 and then took the actual audio for the video shown and put that as audio 2... at the beginning of starseed 2 he kinda messes up... i kinda like how they did that, no wonder all the audio was outta synch
