What is your favourite Naveed Intro?

Post by neoncrossing »

So what rocks your socks more....

The "Old man" intro
Old man at the back of the door
Says he's alright but he still wants more
Young man at the side of the house
Says he's okay, okay, he's okay

or just Steve's amazing solo

or both.....

i know we probably have discussed this before, but i am bored.....
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

I like both, for different reasons.

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

Steve's solo is so atmospheric and awesome, sort of reminds me of SM. But you know, the best possible Naveed they could play would combine both of those.

Mine favorite is the one that comes before the song starts.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

"Old Man" kicketh the mucho.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Actually I have seen different intros to this song over the years. That is why I love it so much live. I think this is one of their best songs done live. I have yet to see a bad version of this song.

To answer the question, although I totally love the Bass Intro- I love how they do the guitar more in the intro. Even with Mike Turner. Go listen to Naveed( World's A Blister Tour). If you guys have The ACC 02/01/00 On the Hub( I don't get the hub) listen to Naveed. Steve emphasizes it more. I also said I totally love to hear Naveed done with the OLD MAN, Long Guitar intro-then in the middle of the song have them do the Our Lady Peace poem(as on the Clumsy tour) then break into Life, then back to Naveed. The song would be over 10 minutes long

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.
