Hey I"m just wondering what everone's opinion on "Are You Sad" is? Personally I think the version off of Spiritual Machines is great. But then after hearing the live version, I was just dumbfounded. It shows exactly how much steve has added to the band (tho I love mike). The solo he has added perfectly fits the song and brings it to a new level. Raine's voice live is so full of emotion.
What does everyone else think?

I like the SM one because it's more acoustically centered. However, I like the Live one because of Raine's screams and Steve's solo...

I like them both, but if I had to choose I would say the live version because of the solo and because I love Raines voice during it. This song is one of my favorite and hearing the live version makes me want to cry beause it is so good.

I like both. In their own respects, they are like different songs.
I mean SM is brilliant and I suppose it would be exactally what they wanted it to sound like. It's definately one of the best songs on that album and strikes a chord with most people. Live has a explanation, it has a solo, its a little more emotional and a little more ad-libbed.
My vote is going to SM though, cause thats the origional and nothing can beat that emotion that it can rise in you when you listen to it. Live is almost a different feeling. Its a different experience.
