What songs should my band cover

Post by Dabekk »

I thought I'd make this thread for fun . . . so my band's always kind of semi-thinking of covers to do and I wonder what some of y'all think we should cover. Keep in mind we've got guitar, bass, drums, keys, vocals (just one guitar).

We already do a cover of Naveed btw.

A couple we've been thinking of and toying with:

Massive Attack - Teardrop
OLP - Denied
Tool - Aenema
Tool - Stinkfist
Alien Ant Farm - Attitude
System - Chop Suey
U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

no, it's easy, we can already play it, I just have to learn the harmonies. I know he's playing like three guitar parts, but I've seen video of them doing it live he's just doing a stripped down version, so that's what i'm doing.

i'm sure you can guess what band i would suggest for you to cover, although anything by Janes Addiction or Dave Navarro would be interesting. Matt good is always good too
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

"Hold on, hold on children, your mother and father are leaving, hold on, hold on children your best freind's parents are leaving, leaving,.......*AHHH*! " - Death From Above - Black History Month

It depends, see, I'd love to have you, but the thing is we're really happy with things the way they are, but if you wanted you could come jam with us sometime and if you fit into the band in such a way that it made us even happier than we are now, I'd see no problem in giving you a place in the band. It's an outside chance though. But if you want to come out and give it a shot, that would be great. I know you've got an awesome singing voice and as it is that's something that we lack on backup vocals right now, so you never know.

So if you're interested in giving it a shot, PM me and we'll try to work something out.

Oh, also . . .

Yannic, I'm pretty sure that we ARE going to be doing denied, we've played around with it a couple times and I think it'll work.

Sean, I'd love to play an ime song but jag has such mad skills that me trying to pull it off would just be an insult. Navarro is kind of the same thing, he's too good.

and for the rest of y'all, thanks for the suggestions, and come to edmonton with Yannic to see us play. :)

Well, I'd recommend any Alkaline Trio song, but I'd love to hear you guys try to do Bleeder.

But seeing that you guys have keys in your band, I recommend "Koufax - Social Life"

Trust me, do that song, there's not a lot of guitar in it, the bass isn't all that hard to figure out, the drums are also pretty basic, and the keys rock me. If you aren't into that song, try "Saturdays' Alone" by Koufax. That song is basic, yet kicks my ass.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
