I've always wondered

Post by JUb »

What is Naveed about? I've looked up to see what 'Naveed' is/was, and the only thing I can find is some old Godess, I think. I'm sure this has been explained a few times, but I'm really curious as to this song's origin.

Naveed - "It's named after a friend of mine. His name is Naveed. He's Iranian and one day he told me the background [of the name] was a person referred to as a bearer of good news. We don't want to make this seem like a big concept album. But it just seemed to be fitting for us to kind of put some optimism in the whole record. I mean, the lyrics are kind of dark and I think one can see there's an aggressive nature to the record. But we didn't want to be another angry band that didn't think."

I always interpreted it to be about a friend's suicide. Instead of completely grieving over the suicide, Raine is asking his friend why he did it, and what life after death is like.

I think its a song that isnt really supposed to have one meaning. I am not sure the band has one meaning for it. When you look at the lyrics in a different light, it can seem like something completly different. When I listen to it my interpretation is more like contemplating death, not really about someone dying.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Yeah, on the 4 track Live ep Raine said it was about a young man looking for God. I thought that was interesting.
This is my story both humble and true,
Take it to pieces and mend it with glue.

 I never believe what Raine says songs are about in concert... if you download enough bootlegs (or, heck, go to enough concerts), you'll hear the same song explained about 289347239842378 different ways.

I read somewhere that Naveed is scared of death but at the same time interested in it? I think that was on the His Blood Is Blue site...

so you must have 289347239842378 versions of Car Crash live.   I have heard the beautiful girl in the white jeep, the person driving on the country road 2 am in the morning etc.

With Naveed. I don't know what the song is about. I only know the title comes from a friend of Thier's. BTW- Starseed is written about Navid also.

The name Starseed is from the book "the Starseed Transmissions", but it is indeed about his "transchanelling friend"

At one of their accoustic shows(on the clumsy tour I think) they said this is about our friend who thought me about transcending etc. He talked about Channeling another person etc. Then made a joke that Jeremy was doing it then. Here is another piece of useless info for you guys. Navid is the person who worked on Vice City-Grand Theft Auto- that is why Duncan and Jeremy are on it.

Navid Khonsari was one of the people that worked on the game GTA: Vice City. I guess Gail is implying that Navid is Naveed?

Just in case you didn't know, Jer and Duncan do some voice acting in the game. I believe they do some cop voices when you get to high wanted levels.
