Old school WWF vs. WWE?

Old school WWF = Hulk Hogan

WWE = The Rock

Don't we have enough threads comparing the different versions of OLP?
*counts* Hmmm, 4234164241 threads. Yep, that's plenty. Please review those threads for each CM'ers viewpoint on both versions of OLP.

I think Steve gets a bad rap (if that is your point with this thread). The guy is an amazing guitarist. I mean, he barely even played on Gravity. I still think if he played on the entire album that it might sound a little better.

He adds his own twist to the old songs rather than trying to copy Mike, and it is definitely the right thing to do. You ever hear him play Starseed? Some people might have my head for this, but I believe his version of Starseed far exceeds Mike's.

By the same token, I find Mike's Naveed to be better.

I'm not even sure what the point of your thread (or even my post :p), but there's my two cents (or 3.5 for you Canadians) anyway.

interesting observation: there are just as many people who whine "waahhh why are there so many anti-olp threads', if not more, as there are of the 'waaahh olp are so different' threads.

didn't really have a point, jussayin'.

I do have one question? I know alot of people on here don't like Gravity, Steve, the new direction or pretty much anything OLP related since 2001. I respect everyone's opinion. What really bothers me is how people get on us who do like the new direction and such. We are questioned about how we could like the new stuff. That it oviously sucks , whatever and we have no taste if we like Gravity.

I will not compare Gravity-to Pre-Gravity. I will not compare Mike To Steve, or Steve to Mike. I accept OLP as they are-changes and all. Somethings they have done in their careers I like. Somethings they have done in their career I don't like> In the end I still love OLP, and their music. That is all that matters to me.

plus I feel they have come along way as a live act.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

I gotta agree. I like Gravity a lot. I prefer their earlier records, but I still enjoy listening to Gravity on occasion. What bothers me is that anything OLP do now is considered negative. It seems like people aren't giving them a chance anymore. Oh well, we all have our own opinions.

you should know by now how much I love Raine and Steve. DAH that is no secret.

I love that photo also. I also just got back my photo with them and I must say it looks good.

are you serious? anybody (or at the least 90%) of the people who have a negative oppinion of olp, post it with the intent of sharing that oppinion. not of bashing you guys in any way at all. I think i've heard WAY more "shut the fuck up"'s going out to people after they post a negative comment than people who post a positive one. Infact i cant remember one time someone said anything good about the band and got yelled at out of nowhere. We've replied on you're good oppinions saying our own oppinions, but not to put you guys down, just to say what we think.

also... I really dont think anyone has a problem with steve. both are awesome guitarists, it's just that mike's influence on the band is gone now.

and finally... why is everyone bashing the newbie. he/she is saying that the new direction of the band has a lot to do with mike's absence, which many of us have said in the past, its not like this person is comming out of nowhere and not making any sense.

Old School = Mike (intelligent guy but who I found boring to watch and boring to listen too, lacked energy and didn't seem to fit in with the rest of the band)

New OLP = Steve (who I find amazing to watch, adds so much more power and energy to the band and just brings so much to the band that was lacking before .. which wasn't obviously lacking until you actually see him play and interact, and of course the orgasmic solo's)

Point? Meh, don't have one ... since I don't understand the point of this thread
