wtf?
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

I'm buying Star Wars Galaxies with my next paycheque.
Most of my friends have it. I love it. You can play 8 different species and 30 professions. It's about USD$15/month for an account, but I think it's well worth it. The servers are really good as far as uptime and speed go.
There's a lot of small details that make the game great.
I'll give you a link. http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/index.html
I used to play Ragnarok Online before you had to pay for it. It's basically Diablo with anime sprites. If you look hard enough, you can find a hacked version that'll let you play for free. The security is really poor. It gets hacked on a weekly basis.

i have galaxies, but i am having MASSIVE computer trouble getting it to run. also, when it does let me play, i find that i suck at it. so far all my character can do is deliver packages from one part of town to another for minimal financial gain.
i have not yet figured out how to enjoy the game, although i'm sure that it will be great when i am not such a hopless n00b.

I found the easiest way to start was to be a scout (mind you, I haven't played as much as my friends have, but it takes a little reading).
If you're a scout, you can take on the easy creatures around cities (on Tatooine atleast), like lesser womp rats, rills, and the other other thing I'm probably forgetting. The little toady thing.
Then when you kill it, harvest its bones/hide, and use the crafting apparatus in your inventory to make a camp or a trap. You get experience for killing it, harvesting its bone/hide, and for constructing something. You can hotkey the traps and throw them in combat.
