I don't know what kind of funerals you people go to, but they usually leave the casket closed... :wtf:
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I just found out my grandpa's been cremated, so there's no body to behold.

At the wakes the family has the choice to have an open or closed casket. That's why they have make-up people to make them look a little less ... decrepid. People sometimes feel the need to see them one last time for closure.

yeah, i would hope they're all referring to the wake...

but yeah viewing the body at the wake does unnerve me, alrhough i feel like it really does something to drive in the fact that the person is gone.

one thing's for sure, it does NOT look like they're sleeping in there like everybody says.

Definately not.

Well, it looks like they're really really sick and sleeping.

Well healthy people don't die out of nowhere

And trust me, I know all about funerals and wakes. I've been to more than you people will ever go to.

allergies suck big time
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

for some godawful reason my mom chose to have an open casket at my dad's wake ... i hated it ... the most awful thing EVER ... i refused to go near the casket until the end before they closed and even then I couldn't really look at my dad ...

then again, the idea of a wake is disturbing to me ... a bunch of people standing around laughing and joking while my dad lies dead in the same room does not make much sense to me ....

Yeah, I don't see how anyone can be in a "let's remember the person" mood when the dead body is lying right there. It's just wrong. Whomever thought this would be a good idea for funeral procedures should be taken out of the ground and shot, then buried again. I suppose it is the way of people paying their last respects, but still. After seeing aunts, uncles, and grandparents have their insides eaten away by cancer, looking at their lifeless bodies just doesn't sit right with me...

I've only been to one funeral...but it was open casket. I think I'd like to be cremated. It's cheaper, quicker, and no one is gawking at you. Unfortunately...that's not how "we do it" 'round these parts.

Holy shit, I have never been so crushed in a pit as in Audioslave tonight. My friend and I were the only girls, and we made it through...barely. We beat a ton of guys. Dude...some guys are such dicks....sigh...

Yeah, guys in pits are usually assholes. Especially the ones that go after girls. All I know is when I was with my ex Lauren and we went to concerts, I would get pissed off at the guys that would hit her. I actually tackled a few guys that would run directly at her for no reason. It's surprisingly fun to hurt people like that. Too bad my bitch...er....ex didn't even notice what I would do for her. I got my ass kicked a couple times from shit like that. Needless to say, I am never going near the pit for Zebrahead ever again.

The security guys at the Craven show patted me on the back :)

You see, there were these crowd surfers who wouldnt come out of the crowd. When they got near the railing they would start kicking at people to get down(which worked) The security guys couldnt get at them. So those surfers go again and this time they come towards me but, before he could start kicking to get down, i grabbed one guys feet and yanked him out of the pit. The the second guy came near me and I pulled him out.

The security guys were happy with m :)

my dad stood guard at a friends funeral from vietnam. (he was in the army) they claim that there was only about 2 pounds of body in there, so it had to be closed casket, and the mother of the guy rushed the casket to see if he was in there. they had to wrestle her back to her seat.
