I smoke on occasion, but only rarely in social situations. I suffer from severe migraines (I once came close to fainting during class because of the pain) and insomnia. Painkillers like Tylenol have no effect on me. My mother is the same way. Marijuana is the only thing I've found to help. If I have to take the health risk of smoking a joint every so often in order to sleep and function without pain, I'll do it.

Vaporizers are an option for those worried about their health. They automatically heat to the temperature at which the THC evaporates without burning the rest of the plant matter. This way, most of the toxins are not inhaled. Vaporizers are a tad expensive, but I think they're a worthwhile investment for people who smoke often.
