Richele,
Hi, I hope you’re well. My name is Paul Mills. I’m
writing as I was fortunate to came across your LOTR
fan poetry on the great http://www.frodoandsam.net
website and enjoyed reading it. I would greatly
appreciate your help with a related query.
For high school media studies, I’m researching the
LOTR books and films. I’m 16 and am from Australia,
where it’s currently winter, so we don’t break for
school like the northern hemisphere does. I read the
books last year and loved them, so the book part is no
problem.
My teacher has come up with the idea of surveying any
advanced, creative lovers of the LOTR film (if I can
find any) and if their permission is given (for those
who respond) submit any creatively expressed written
or visual efforts from lovers / fans of the first film
(Fellowship of the Ring), on why they love it so much,
why it’s one of their favorite ever films, or what
they most admire about the FOTR film.
I know you have done some LOTR inspired poetry and
unless you’ve come across anything like this, if you
would like to do a preferably short, rhyming poem
about the first film (if you loved it of course ; if
you didn’t really, please do it about the FOTR book
instead), I would be very grateful. It'd need to be
in English.
Or anything making imaginative use of creative word
play, like acrostic writing of the Lord of the Rings
name, but made to also rhyme. It only needs to have a
maximum of 40 – 50 words, so it’s not necessary to do
more than that, but if you need to, no problem. It
can’t be a poem where you’re taking on the persona of
a favorite single LOTR character you admire.
When’s the deadline for this ? Preferably by Sunday
or Monday, if possible. If you’re too busy at the
moment and can’t help, please recommend anyone I can
write to, whose work you admire, if possible.
LOTR / FOTR film related fan art is hard to find (a
lot of LOTR fan art has drawings showing what the
artist imagines the book characters to look like, not
how they look in the films), but fortunately there are
some very nice film Frodo drawings on
www.frodoandsam.net, if I can get permission from the
drawers.
Thanks so much for your help. I hope to hear from
you.
Sincerely,
Paul Mills
I really don't know what to do. Problems include:
1) Should I trust this guy? Do you think there is any chance that he may steal my work?
2) He mentioned something about word play. I hate word play. Also, wtf is "acrostic writing "?
3) How do you go about writing a poem about a film and not about people? Almost all my writing is based upon human emotion. Erg.

I would really appreciate any help. I need to start writing ASAP if I plan to send it into him tomorrow. I hope I'm not being too annoying asking for all this help. Thank ya all.
