Boys of Summer

Post by I AM ME »

i'm not a huge fan of the ataris but i'm obsessed with this song!
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

"Hold on, hold on children, your mother and father are leaving, hold on, hold on children your best freind's parents are leaving, leaving,.......*AHHH*! " - Death From Above - Black History Month

Just a punk/rock cover of a Don Henly song. *shrugs*

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

The Ataris are punk rock? I just assumed they were four guys having fun on stage. But I guess if you're not classic rock nowadays or don't use an acoustic guitar, you're punk. Rock on.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

i like it a lot...never really heard the ataris until now but i knew they were around for 6 years or so and it is good they are getting some exposure. Radio stations sort of forced this song into a single since it wasnt the song the band actually planned to release.

Seeing them live is great. It just makes me want to dance around. They're one of those bands you have to see live to really appreciate.

the ataris have always been considered pop punk
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

 Hell yes. Get on the punk wagon 'cause it's sure in for a hell of a ride...and that doesn't mean musically. Fuck, that didn't make sense. Another attempt at humour gone down the shitter.

Argh...I'm not too fond of them either. They're just another typical punk band trying to be "cool" and get some cashola.

Personally, I like the original song better... My friend brought the CD over once and played it for me and I heard that song and was just kinda "eh" about it.

They started thier band before pop-punk became popular, thier just starting to get on MTV now. If they were just trying to be cool, they wouldn't have worked thier butts off on tour for the last 6 years now would they.

Sheesh. Sorry I don't research the history of the Ataris.

I guess I should have put "they seem like" instead of "they are." However, I'm still allowed to have an opinion.

I feel the same way... I really don't care for most of the Ataris song library, but the way they covered this song is just awesome and addicting to listen to.

Alan... Why is it that you snapped at me for calling them "punk/rock", but when Jeff said that they're "pop-punk" you agreed with him without a hitch?

"Sh*t, id be f*ckin' scared if us were opening for...us"
-Dave Grohl on why the Red Hot Chili Peppers only let the Foos play a 45 minute set when they toured together

"baby, i wish you were my baby,
ill make u make a baby,
let's make electric power,
in fear u should not cower,
cuz girl i will protect u,
i promise not to sex u,
and IiiiiIiiiiIiiiiiiIiiiiiIiiiiii...." - Dudez a Plenti

"all by myself
cause I don’t want to drag you down, hold you down
cause you’re a friend
i blame myself
i guess you think it’s funny now, funny now
it's such a shame..."
-Feeder - Just a Day
