Starting to check out Radiohead

Post by ihatethunderbay »

I saw a profile on Radiohead on T.V, and they played a couple videos (Just, Street Spirit, Karma Police, There There) so I downloaded those songs, plus Fake Plastic Trees and Creep. I'm wondering what else I should check out, and if I like the other stuff, what album would be the best to buy first.

If you're going to buy Radiohead, I would say you should get The Bends first. But then again, everyone always says you should buy OK Computer, so either one of these cds would be good.

As for songs, I will list out my some random favorites of mine.

Thinking About You
Creep
Stop Whispering
Ripcord
I Can't
My Iron Lung
Fake Plastic Trees
High And Dry
Just
Paranoid Android
Karma Police
No Surpises
Let Down

I am gonna stop now.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

The Bends and OK Computer are my favorite. Good songs:

Fake Plastic Trees
High and Dry
Just
Street Spirit
Subterranean Homesick Alien
Paranoid Android
Let Down
How I Made My Millions (don't know if this was ever released, but it is kicking around to be downloaded)

Basically both albums are good all the way through, but those are some of my favorites off the top of my head.

w00t. I just bought The Bends. It's a great CD.

I never realized how many Radiohead songs I actually know. I've heard Hight and Dry a helluva lot of times on the radio, but never realized it was them. Same with Creep, and Just.

Oooh, anyone wanna do something nice?

Donate money to the Sarah-needs-to-buy-OK Computer fund!

It's a good cause, I swear!

Money not used there goes to the Sarah-needs-to-buy-Hail to the Thief fund.

I would recommend OK Computer (although I don't own oll of their albums). If the song "Paranoid Android" doesn't turn you on to them, nothing will (IMO of course)

I've also just started to listen to Radiohead. I used to think they were a bit sleepy, but I've always liked Just. I heard Creep t'other day so I downloaded that and some others. They're starting to grow on me.

Has anyone seen the Just video?? What does he SAY? It's so annoying!!

you're not supposed to know...

for the video, he probably just said something random like "the purple bunny ate my magical briefcase"

I hate that video. It's a bigger tease than my ex girlfriend Lauren. It gets you all into it, then lets you down in the end. Fuckers.

 I hope that IS what it says.

I know that you're not meant to know but do you reckon there is actually something that they had in mind when they made the video? I personally think there must be. And that's what annoys me...

Maybe it's just me :ohwell:

I bought OK Computer yesterday

It is officially my favourite album ever.

And with regards to the Just video, I think the band said something like "If you knew what he said it would make you want to lie down in the middle of the sidewalk too."

Personally, I thought he said something like "theres no way out of this world" It mouths quite nicely, and yes I have watched him mouth it a few times over!

Hey, I think you should just get "Hail To the Thief" and then work your way from there. I bought it a few weeks ago and still can listen to it without getting bored! It's my favorite album so far.

Lucky from OK Computer is an excellent song as well.

My list would be:

There There
Sail to the Moon
Lucky
No surprises
Let Down
Karma Police
Fake Plastic Trees
Pyramid Song
Idioteque

There's more, but this is a good start.

My friend plays OK Computer in her car, and I love it now. And it's especially better than Alanis' Under Rug Swept.
