Girlz Garage Tour

Post by bovine »

Has anyone heard of this? It's being put together by the same person (people) who put together the Warped Tour. There will be 26 dates across the US and one of the bands is theSTART  Other bands are Lillix, The Peak Show, Northern State, and Brassy. theSTART is the only band that I really know out of those, but I've heard of Lillix (never heard their music though). If anyone knows anything about the other bands, good or bad, please let me know. Oh, if you want to check out the website, it's at http://www.girlzgarage.com

I've only heard one Lillix song, but based on that I'd have to agree.

i can't wait to see thestart again.

i heard lillix is really hot so that can't be bad either.
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

So let me get this straight. It's an all woman tour. Out of all the female acts out there, they can only book one good band? Yeah, I'll keep my money. Thanks for the offer.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Not to turn this into a debate thread, but I wonder what the reaction would be if someone made a specifically all-men tour...

I wouldn't mind seeing theSTART in concert, but to pay like $30 or more to see them, it's not worth it. Now if Lillix played naked, I would put more thought into paying that, but odds are, I am staying home.

Good point, but if you think about it, most of the festival-type tours/radio shows are not billed as all men or all women, but they're either all guys or like 95% guys. I mean I was at a local radio festival with like 25 bands and there was not one woman performer...and I don't mean like no women lead singers, I mean none on stage at all. So, basically, all the "general" festival tours are "all-men tours" just not in so many words.

Anyway, I think we should turn this into a debate thread. After all, it's an interesting debate and I got all the info I wanted (actually "didn't want," but you get the point...)

I know what you mean. Most tours are mostly men. However, to make it exclusively men, and to specify that no women could preform, would not go over well.

yeah but even though this is billed as an all women's tour, there are still plenty of male musicians in the bands performing.

see, i doubt that. people would just think it's lame because most tours are guys only by default.

but if they adevertized the tour by purposely pointing out "all these bands have male singers." i'm sure feminists wouldnt take well to it.

i'd even go as far as to say feminists would gain momentum and probably start attacking other big shows (ie. warped tour) to include more female bands.

Exactly! That's what I was trying to say before, but since you put 39479 sentences into one, it sounded a lot better!
