Are You Sad? Tab

Post by robcore »

Here it is kids, the one you've all been waiting for. Edit: The way this stupid format goes makes it impossible to cut and paste, so you'll have to listen to the song to know when to strum certain chords.
Are You Sad

Tune half a step down and in drop d.
Intro
-
-
- X 2
-7 7 7 7 7 7
-5 5 5 5 7 5
-0 0 0 0 0 0

-
-
- X 2
-7 7 7 7 7 7
-5 5 5 5 7 5
-5 5 5 5 5 5

Verse
Your life has been so hard these dried up angels can’t keep guard and
-
-
-
-7 7 4 12 12
-5 5 2 10 9
-0 5 2 10 9

I’m trying to reach your hand but I’m on fire I never meant to
-
-
-
-7 7 4 12
-5 5 2 10
-0 5 2 10

Fade Away. Wait for me. Would you stop pretending when
-
-
-
-12 7 12 7 12
-9 5 9 5 10
-9 5 9 5 10

they say you're nothing.

Chorus
Are you sad?Are you holding your self?
-
-
-
- 7 7 4
- 5 5 2
- 0 5 2
Are you locked in your room? You shouldn’t be
-
-
-
- 12 12 12
- 10 9 10
- 10 9 10
Now for the “ho ho ho’s.” The first set right after the second chorus, you use the chord structure from the verses. Then you do the chorus twice more and the rest of the “ho ho ho’s” follow the chorus’s structure. I’ll quickly show you on the mp3.

Not a whole lot. There are just a few differences in my chords from yours. They give a different sound (and one closer to the song. I only know this because i remember Mike playing it this way in 2000). But yeah, yours are also open chords whereas these are played as power chords. But these ones are slightly modified.

There's more than just the chords being played though. There's also a light picking pattern (at least in the intro).

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

Hey... question about tabs... I've been going to all these tab sites to download tabs, but when I open them on word or notepad, it comes out as a garbled pile of rubbish. what should I use to open tabs?

No clue, my friend. But Rob, you'll notice my tab actually shows the picking pattern for the intro:)

Oh, okay. That's the X 2 on the G string (haha, G-string). I thought that was just a messed up "times two" that showed up there due to the difficulty of tabbing without Courier New.

My favourite G-string moment was when i was playing for the school jazz band, and it snapped. So I yelled "i snapped my G-string!" It was a jolly good time.
