Easy OLP Songs on the Guitar

Post by Nimoy »

I'm gonna get an electric guitar probably today or tommorow and I was wondering what are some OLP songs that are really easy to play. I have barely any experience, and i can read basic sheet music. I'm not even talking full songs, I'd be happy learning just the intro to starseed or superman's dead. Are there any simple parts to OLP songs that would be good for a beginer to learn?

SD's pretty easy.

My tip: Learn to read tab.

The tablature section at www.ourladypeace.cc is usually pretty accurate.

SD and 4AM are two of the easier ones to play...I don't know about any other ones, but those two come to mind right away.

I'd suggest learning SD first, the intro of the song you're thinking of is just power chords...

As for 4am... I'd say avoid the picking pattern at first. Just get the chord progression down. Then you can add in the picking later. It's pretty easy.

I just started learning and have very little experience, but i found innocent to be pretty easy.
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

Do you know the accurate picking pattern? I've played around with a few of my own but none of them sound exactly like what is actually played.

The intro to All For You is pretty easy. The hardest part is probably tuning the guitar! The tuning is down a 1/2 step and drop D. This means that each string is down 1/2 step (ex. the "a" string would be "a flat"). The low "e" string, however, is down a total of 3 half steps making it c #

Then the intro riff is just played on the 3 low strings (if you hit the fourth or only the first 2, it's no biggie though).

There's 5 chords open (no fingers on the frets) then bar (finger straight across) on the 3rd fret for 7 chords then one chord on the 5th fret then four chords on the 7th fret then 7 chords on the 5th fret and repeat. This is the same for the chorus as well as the intro.

I'm going to try to tab it, but if it doesn't come out right (as far as the format), it's probably up at olp.cc

Db--0---0---0---0---0------
Ab--0---0---0---0---0------
C#--0---0---0---0---0------

Db--3---3---3---3---3---3---3---
Ab--3---3---3---3---3---3---3---
C#--3---3---3---3---3---3---3---

Db--5----
Ab--5----
C#--5----

Db--7---7---7---7------------
Ab--7---7---7---7------------
C#--7---7---7---7------------

Db--5---5---5---5---5---5---5---
Ab--5---5---5---5---5---5---5---
C#--5---5---5---5---5---5---5---

If you can't read tabs, you should learn. There's some explanation at
http://www.tabcrawler.com/articles.php?action=readarticle&articleid=9

Hope this helps!

Bare cords aren't that easy for a beginner...at least they weren't for me.

Yeah. I'll see if I can find it on the net here...

Eep, can't find a good one.

Alright, here goes nothing...

Eb|----0--0--------------------------
Bb|-----5--5-----------0--0---------
Gb|----------6---------6----6----6--
Db|--6--------6--------7-----7-----7
Ab|--4-------------7-7----------7---
Eb|-----------------5-----------------

I know that's hard to read, and hard to time, but that's it. :)

Instead of playing

E|--0-
B|--2-
G|--2-
D|--2-
A|--0-
E|----

for "A", you would play the barre chord:

E|--5-
B|--5-
G|--6-
D|--7-
A|--7-
E|--5-

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.

On a side note, the "power chord" for "A" would be:

E|----
B|----
G|----
D|--7-
A|--7-
E|--5-

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
