x = x - 8 + 4(*x-8) + 4
x = x - 4 + 4(*x-8)
4(*x-8) = 4
16(x-8) = 16
16x-128 = 16
16x = 144
x = 9
... i'm not sure that is the entire domain... but it's one of the answers

rationalize the domain...
4/5-(*5)
Ok, I'm not totally sure this is right, but here's the idea. Domain's are simply where the answer is a real number. To find a domain, you have to have an "x" in there, somewhere, so I'm assuming that what you've given here is actually the domain, and we have to put it in rational terms (*5 is not a rational number; it neither repeats nor terminates).
so, we just need to find a real value for the above expression. Multiply the whole thing by 5. (4/5) * 5 = 4, and the sqrt(5) * 5 = 5, by way of what a square root is. So we end up with 4-5, which leaves with with -1. The rationalized domain is -1.
AND
(*x)=(*x-8)+2
to begin with
Are we supposed to solve, or find the domain? Corey solved it, and the domain (the values of x where the solution to the problem is real) is x<=8, I believe.
You can't go around building a better world for people. Only people can build a better world for people. Otherwise it's just a cage.

Don't you mean x >= 8?
