Pirates of The Caribbean: Curse of The Black Pearl

Post by Ray »

Wow. This movie surprised me. I haven't liked anything Jerry Bruckheimer produced for a while now, and I wasn't a major fan of The Ring, Gore Verbinkski's movie before this, but this turned out to be a very fun, very light-hearted flick. Also a bit bloody for a movie that is based off a Disney attraction. But I encourage it, just for Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow. He just loves this role, and indulges in it like a fat man with... uh... fattening foods. Orlando Bloom has a lot to learn, but he proved that he HAS learned something from his time on the Lord of The Rings sets (hell, if you're working with Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee and Viggo Mortensen, you better learn something). Geoffery Rush does play a kick-ass bad pirate.

And, oh yeah, Keira Knightley reaffirms her "sexiest tomboy beanpole on the planet" status. She's an ass-kicker in this film. :)

This film isn't to save the world or anything... it's just a fun romp. I'd suggest seeing it. You'll laugh your ass off, and that's half the point. The other half is great sword battles and an excellent sea-battle between The Black Pearl and the head of the British Fleet.

2 reasons to see this movie:

1. Orlando Bloom in a pirate outfit

2. Johnny Depp with eyeliner

You should drink the gasoline. It tastes good too.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Yeah, usually guys should get over the whole pirate thing when they turn 10. Beyond that, this is a movie made about a fucking Disney ride. And we all know that anything associated with Disney is like dealing with the devil.

Anyways, the only people that seem to be really excited about this movie are women. Hmmm, I wonder why? I mean, it can't be because of "good looking" men in make-up, could it? Nah, I must be wrong. You want to see it for character development or to see the exciting action this movie has, right?

Well ya know, I think it sounded good even before I knew who was in it. The first time I saw the trailor I thought that both Johnny and Orlando didn't look like themselves and really had no idea who it was. It's the whole fantasy idea that I kinda like. Hmm..I love Hook. And it's sure as hell not cause I think Robin Williams is hot! Harry Potter...Lord of the Rings...etc.

we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.
