I'm pretty sure Jesus spoke out against stoning people for the tiniest offence. not for it. Those websites you listed arent true Catholic sites. Some people who have beliefs outside of the religion on America/fags/whatever must have made them because that is not the way Catholicism works. (I dont know the views of most protestant religions on gay people but I'm willing to bet people with a true Christian faith did not make those sites).
Believing and folowing God doesnt mean making up your own religious ethics like people such as these have done.

And didn't Jesus say that you should only pray in privacy, that religion was a private matter? I don't understand why people need to be so intrusive and public about their religion.

Jesus said not to be a hipocrit and speak out beliefs in public that you dont even follow yourself. That passage delt with people trying to look holy and powerful by falsely showing others they have a strong relation with God, which shouldnt be done.
Jesus also told his apostles and other witnesses something like "Go out and preach the good news to the world" He wants people to teach about Christianity, however not to intentionally turn people off to the religion.

I am not trying to force my religion on anyone or offend anyone. But hopefully i cleared up some misconceptions.. there are a lot of them out there.

Thank you. Someone finally is standing up to all the anti-Christian stuff. It seems strange to me that everyone can diss Christianity but not Hinduism, Atheism, Judaism, etc. How come our beliefs are target of everything? It's compltetly unfair. So much for tolerance.

I admit that a lot of our discussions on this subject seem to lean towards christianity/anti-christianity, which shouldn't be.

personally, I follow Christian teachings, and I do believe the bible, but I will probably never join a church, because I disagree with how the church conducts itself in many ways. I was born into an atheist family, but I've always felt some measure of faith, I can't explain that much. I always doubted this, but over the last couple of years I've read a lot of rational, philosophical arguements for and against the existence of God, especially where Christianity is concerned. and I've come to the point where I have decided to follow the teachings... wholly, if that makes sense.

however, this is the extent of how far I'm going to share my beliefs with others. I believe God gave us free will, and other people's beliefs are their business, as God intended it to be. well, that's my belief anyway, I hope people who agree/disagree with me here just realize that this is a humble statement of belief.

Are you suggesting that all atheists intend to attack religion? If we don't believe in something and we have opinions about them, we have a right to say them.

About people not "attacking" atheism... You're not an athiest, go ahead and give your opinion on it.

Christianity tends to be the "target" [subject] of "attacks" [opinions] because growing up we were all exposed to it a lot more than other religions, so we are able to form opinions on it.

What's the point of people in turn attacking Atheism? What will it accomplish? Nothing.

Then why complain that people aren't criticizing it?

I also agree that Christianity gets attacked [oppinionized :freak: ] so much because of the exposure, but that doesnt mean most people know the faith. like I said earlier, there are A LOT of misconceptions out there and to better understand what you are stating an oppinion on, it helps to look into it. There's nothing wrong with discussing the religion if it will help you learn and you can keep an open mind, but just attacking with no mind for acceptance isnt the greatest thing.

I agree with that. I'm against attacking people's beliefs.

candy-coated_fake: I should clarify that I was asking for your opinion, not for christians to attack atheism.

Other people can complain about it. I don't personally feel the need to. And besides, I was just making a point. I wasn't saying "let's insult everything else besides christianity"...that would be just as bad as what people have been doing with christianity.

Sorry if that didn't make sense.

It made sense. I think we just misunderstood eachother there...

What I meant is that you (or others with similar opinions to yours) should feel free to give their opinion on other religions too, without outright attacking, of course.

I should also mention that I haven't read anything in this thread, so I have no idea what else is behind these comments... :)

I don't really know what to say about other religions b/c I don't know a lot about them. It's true that people can more openly attack Christianity b/c society is more exposed to it. However, I've never really been exposed to Hinduism, Muslim, etc. so I can't develop an opinion.

Atheism: I don't hate this "non-religion" either. In fact, i agree with a lot of it. For instance, from what I've gathered, uit seems that atheists are against religion. I am as well, not the beliefs, just human-created religion.
