I think you want him in 4, 5 and 6. You've got a thing for a guy in a mask...

You're so helpful, Alex. I've got a major problem here, and all you can do is slobber all over the thread.

Well, I'm about 250 pages into it now, and it's verrrry slooooowwwwly improving.
(Big ripoff of Tolkien, though. Hope THAT doesn't keep up for much longer...)

Yeah. This was Goodkind's first book, so it's got a lot of outside influence. But after WFR, all that goes away.

"Samuel" is the biggest Gollum ripoff I have ever seen. Seriously. And "Sword of Truth", "Ring of Power"? It's practically copyright infringement!
Auuugh!
Although, I'm now almost finished, and it's not been an entire waste of my time.
But Richard and Kahlan piss me off to no end. They're so... contrived.

Sorry. I'm just sick of the TOLKIENIZING OF THE FANTASY WORLD! It must stop!
Er... nevermind.

Umm, yeah. You can't just assume that everything was taken from Tolkien. Just because there is an "item" of "description" doesn't make it a rip-off. If it was "ring of truth", then maybe. I mean, you can't just never have a fantasy novel based around an item of some sort just because Tolkien did it.
The Samuel thing was a MAJOR rip off of Tolkien, though. I mean, it was the exact same thing.
But seriously, they get a hell of a lot better. A lot. Trust me.

Bags, woman! Just read the books. They get better. True as toasted toads.
