making a CD of OLP songs for my friend...

Post by tasha »

and i'm wondering what i should put on it. she asked me to make it for her, as sort of a... i dont know.... olp cd? lol. she already likes them, she owns happiness... but she doesn't know them that well. she asked me to put annie, superman's dead, and a few other songs on it, but other than that it's up to me. she also said she doesn't want anything "too obscure". what would you recommend to lure her further into the light?

Sounds like a plan...I suggest:

-The Birdman
-Whatever
-the Story of 100 Aisles
-Happiness and the Fish (the "talking is just masturbating without the mess" will get a funny reaction)
-the wonderful future
-all my friends
-everyone's a junkie
-sell my soul
-4 am

Well, I can't think of any more right now. Don't know if she'll like those. Oh well. Maybe the Birdman's pushing it a bit.

these are good suggestions so far...

i'm trying to steer clear of a lot of Happiness songs because she knows them all, it's their only CD she has. (she knows Happiness & The Fish

 to blister, car crash, and shaking. Those aren't songs that will really get her to like OLP, in my opinion. She needs to hear the more rockin' tunes before she hears those. I know when I first started liking OLP those songs took me a while to appreciate. Well, maybe I'm wrong...w/e.

BTW, I wouldn't take The Wonderful Future off for the world. That's an amazing, deep song. You should also add If You Believe to the list. 'Tis a good song!

Well, I don't know. It's just my opinion. Blister isn't bad, and neither is Car Crash but...n/m, I don't even know what I'm saying anymore.

Some real stand-outs just off the top of my head...

Starseed [*can't* forget that!]
Shaking
4am
Middle of Yesterday [another definite IMO]
All For You

Maybe some rarities as well...Whatever, Imagine, Needle and the Damage Done, Not Afraid, etc...

Also, something off "Happiness...Is A Tribute CD" couldn't hurt

I didn't take notice of this fact before, but I find it quite remarkable that the only OLP album she has is Happiness... Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad album by any means...in fact, that and SM are my 2 favorites. However, I find that most people with only one OLP album have Gravity and about 9 out of 10 of them think that it's their first and only album  Congradulate your friend for me!
