ok, heres what happened with me:

i was...7, 8?

i saw parts of the videos for sd and clumsy and i had no idea who they were. i asked my brother and he told me. then two days before christmas, i changed the cd i wanted from some shitty pop thing (cleopatra?) to clumsy. no clue why. then i listened to that cd, and that cd only for three years. i didnt really have any idea who the hell they were.

then i got happiness a couple years later, but my brother lost it like a day later.

As for me, I saw Out of Here on Much music. I didn't have any sense cause I was in grade 5, but I remembered the name of the band and when grade 7 rolled around, what do I see on much music. I think Right Behind You would generate the most interest. It's not Gravity stuff, but it's about as catchy as you get pre-Gravity.
