From the taking back sunday newsletter:

june 16, 2003

update
what's up out there? been meaning to write. hehe. yeah, well, rumors shmumors is all that needs to be said. our favorite has been 'i read it on a news website.' unless you're talking cnn.com then take it for what it's worth. there are changes brewing but we promise to be back soon, bigger, taller, stronger. there are no rules. when there's something to tell, you'll be the first to know. thanks for hanging in, we're so proud of our true fans and you know who you are.

They dropped the ball. I have already replaced Taking Back Sunday on my favorite band list (in my head) with Moneen. All I have to say is TBS better make the best cd ever now that they felt it necessary to break up in the first place. Bitches.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Maybe they will bring back the old taking back sunday lineup which i hear was much better and adam was not there so that makes everything much better. Looks like Brandnew kicked their ass in the Long Island Battle

alan you seriously find out about bands the same time I do, I just downloaded some Moneen along with some Silverstein two great bands from Ontario i think. so check them out too.

OK, instead of me saying something insulting to ya about music Megan, let's just pretend I pissed you off and we're back on good terms now.

Now that the obligatory insult is out of the way, here we go about music. I am into both of those bands, and other people should be too. Both of those bands will stay out of the scene for a while, so it's best that people get into them now, so when they get popular, you can say you knew about them first.

I would say everyone should get into Count The Stars, but it's too late. They are hyped like no other on MTV already, so if you ever turn that channel on, don't be surpised when they force-feed you them.

bethany and I saw Count the Stars and there were literally 25 people at the show...my friends band were opening and Motion City Soundtrack were headlining. Unfortunatley we didnt stick around for MCS but Count the Stars didnt seem too great but I havent heard any studio stuff yet. Alan you should check out my friends band they are still local but they have been playing shows with these types of bands and getting good reviews from them. I am not sure if they have new stuff on their site yet..http://www.patentpendingsmells.com

good idea.

anyway, i saw count the stars open up for bigwig and yeah, they're pretty much going to be the next mtv band, even bigwig commented on that. when they were done like, half the people left (including all of the stupid screaming girls) and then for bigwig it was just a bunch of guys left. it was pretty funny actually

Well Rob, hold onto the stickers. Three months from now you can sell them on eBay for like $4 a sticker, which is nice.

I like Bigwig. They were the only band that impressed me when I saw H2O, Mest, and Bigwig in concert. Mest wasn't bad, and my lord, I developed a hatred for H2O after I saw them play. Such bad music.

But here's the trick to enjoying a "punk rock" show dominated by little girls. Go out in the crowd and start charging at people that are just there to scream "Oh my God <put some ugly punk singer's name here> take your shirt off!!! I want to have your babies!!!" It makes you feel so much better when you inflict pain on posers.

i don't like any of the bands mentioned in this thread
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.
