I agree with the americans on this one...

py·lon ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pln)
n.
A steel tower supporting high-tension wires.
A tower marking a turning point in a race among aircraft.
A large structure or group of structures marking an entrance or approach.
A monumental gateway in the form of a pair of truncated pyramids serving as the entrance to an ancient Egyptian temple.

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

haven't you guys seen the Lays commercial with Mark Messier where the guys bets him he can't eat just one and as his punishment he has to play hockey with the guy's team and they're called the "pylons" and they're dressed in orange.

well I don't think there's a definate answer to this one... but I think we can see this is one of those national terms as most Canadians call it a pylon while the americans say cone (which isn't very unique if you ask me  )
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
