what does it mean to be a bigot?

Serious discussion area.

We can make assumptions about a person's personality, abilities, and/or tendencies based on their gender/race/religion/orientation/age/etc.

Yes. There may be exceptions, but there are certain assumptions we can make.

No. Any trends that may seem to exist are culturally-induced, and to do so would only propagate these prejudices.

This all depends on which assuptions you mean. Some of the steriotypes are true (about most, but not all people), and most of them are false (for most, but not all people). People are different. The colour of their skin (or any other differences) has nothing to do with a person's personality.

And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

Even if they are culturally induced, they are STILL induced and then may therefore be true. Not saying I'm agreeing with that choice, just pointing that out.
