why be republican instead of libertarian? just curious as to what it is about the republicans that cause you to favour them over the LP.

Good question. The reason for me, is that even though I believe the government should leave you alone in most of your personal choices, it is also our duty to take care of society. In order to grow as a nation, we must interact and help out our common man. And when I say "help", I don't mean just give them money because they are poor, or treat them different because they are black like the left might but rather use our wealth to create more jobs, better facilities, and more protection. I believe that economically, the goverment should have little involvement but on personal matters their should be some involvement. Though I may declare that I am right-wing, I am actually more of a centrist. However, on most current issues I agree with the right.

It more or less equates to containment. I believe in borders and the protection of those borders. Once inside those borders, interaction amongst the citizens must meet certain regulations. Libertarians believe in open borders which individuals could come and go as they please. I don't believe that should be the case because I believe you must agree to certain standards before living in a particular proximity. I believe someone should be allowed to own a gun, however I don't believe they should be able to take it to a public restaurant. Things like that. In return, the government should promise to protect these policies and enforce the codes.
