oh yeah

get 97
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

New video. Watch. Great video. Much better than the last few that OLP has put out, so at least it will interest you, even if you don't like the song all that much.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

The show = amazing.

I got to meet everyone in the band, and they are the nicest famous people I met, even nicer than OLP. There's nothing better than having an actual conversation with a band that goes beyond, "OMG you're sooo awesome" and having the guys just nod and smile.

They played '97 for me, which was really nice. That is yet another reason why Dan is the greatest person alive. Yeah, they played a lot of new stuff, and it's good and all, but they also played just as many old songs, including their first three released songs (97, Sundials, and Nose Over Tail).

I'm going to Cinci to see them play because I promised Matt a pair of tube socks, and Dan promised me he'd play "This Is Getting Over You," a song they haven't played in five years, so I really can't miss it. They are taking requests now, so they're leaving the setlist to play what the crowd really wants to hear, which is great. So I am hoping they'll play Radio and Bleeder at that show, because hey, it's their best stuff.

And just to let people who are going to meet the band know, Matt is by far the most down to earth rock star ever. He actually listens and seems interested in what you say. I was talking to him about how he's the reason I started to play the guitar, and I told Dan he was the reason I started to play the bass, and they both were flat out amazed. I guess they just don't know how much their music really affects people, and they haven't let success get to them, so they just really come off as great people. And not to forget Derek, he's really nice too, but I guess I don't consider him a part of the band, seeing that he just joined and ALK3 can't keep a drummer, so yeah. All in all, those three people just kick ass, and I can't wait to see them again.

OK, I am wrong on the days, I have 21 days, just like Jeff said. I need tickets though, and it appears to be that they sold out. I am going to e-mail Derek and ask him for tickets, because if I can't get into this show, I am gonna cry, especially if I drive down to Cinci to find out I will be rejected.

Yes, this thread needs to be resurrected, seeing that Alkaline Trio is going on tour again very soon.

I am doing double duty for the beginning of the tour. I met this awesome girl at Denny's and she is guest-listed for life because she has an Alkaline Trio tattoo, and she is the coolest girl ever. Her, her friend, and I are going to go down to Chicago to see Alkaline Trio play Oct. 30. Then we're going to rock out in Chicago for Halloween (the girl, Jen, said something about trying to hang out with Matt that day, which I am so not counting on) and hang out in the city, which will be magnificent. Then we'd drive up to Detroit on Nov. 1 to see Alkaline Trio play their other Halloween show at the State Theatre. It will be heaven for me. Two Alkaline Trio shows in the two cities they're loved the most in. Ahhh, it will be superb. I am praying they'll play This Is Getting Over You for me this time around.

But yeah, everyone needs to discuss the Trio. Now. If not for me, then for the memory of Jeff and his week long adventure with these guys. Do it for him.
